Spent a chunk of yesterday attempting to sort out and tidy my spare room. It's been out of control for a while now and I need to get it under control so that I can (finally!) get around to putting a bed into it.
I bought some storage boxes and vaccum storage bags yesterday. There was a buy one get one half price offer on the bags and I used survey vouchers for part of it too. Also got a £5 voucher back
Books seem to be out of hand again - even though I haven't bought many this year so having another cull of those.
I've also found my PS2 and pondering whether or not to get rid of it. I loved playing it and I'm really attached to the games which is why I haven't gotten rid of it before. However, trying to look at it rationally, I've not played it since moving into this house (more than 6 years ago). Therefore think it's unlikely I will play it, so can't figure it why I am finding it hard to let go
I've started a pile for the charity shop and another for the Bay of E. Need to do some more today. Want to have a look through my clothes to see if I can free up some space in my room too.
Not massively exciting..but I'm pleased that I have at least made a start on it...0 -
Good for you, I always find it so satisfying once wardrobe/cupboards and room tidy. only trouble is with me. it has to get worse before it gets better
I look into my immaculate wardrobe after clearing out, only to look behind me in the room to see items piled up :rotfl: everywhere.
However worth all the work as when finished and bags away to wherever, I feel so organised and believe in clutter free house, clutter free mind, goes back to the days when I was into a bit of feng shui. For me - it works.
As for your PS2 - do what you think is right for you, not what they tell you you should do, there are just some things personal to you, you will know when the time is right. I say this, because I have thrown out items, that I really wanted to keep just because "attached" to them but haven't and regretted it.
As for "not being massively exciting" I must be sad - cause I find it "Massively exciting"clearing out items I get great satisfaction out of it. Sorry went on a bit there, as about to have a massive clear out myself.

I need to start decluttering - clothes definitely need sorting through and we should tidy the garage to make space for boxes to start packing things!
If I were you I'd keep the PS2 (unless you need the space). Quick search on bay of e shows £20-40 selling price, so you're not losing out on much by not selling it, and you never know if/when you'll feel like playing it again.0 -
I've decided to concentrate on decluttering for the next couple months too. Must be something in the air!! I definitely feel I can think better if there isn't so much clutter around.0

Thanks for stopping in AFK, Hidden & ETE
For now at least, I'm going to keep the PS2. May have another think about it during my time off
I've had a good day pottering happily.... and the de-cluttering has been quite therapeutic. Still plenty to do but already have 3 large bags of clothes and 3 others with various bits and bobs.
Even found time to order some pressies for that time in DecemberThere was a good offer on some things I had my eye on and I got free delivery and 10% cashback so too good to pass up on
Really pleased there is an extra day to this weekend0 -

Hope you're having a lovely long weekend BW. It sounds like you're having fun with your decluttering - I think it's a good idea to keep the PS2 if you're not sure about whether to get rid of it or not. Look at it with fresh eyes another time.
Ooh you still have money left from your wages to op with - I wish I did! :rotfl:
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend hun.

Arghh, every diary I read this morning people are starting their shopping, I am soooo far behind this year!
Enjoy your BH and well done on the decluttering. Amazing how quickly it builds back up but you feel so much better when it's done!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Thanks MG & Cath
Hope you enjoy the rest of your BH's too
I have a little more sorting to do today. Really want to take the stuff to the charity shop but that will have to wait til my time off. However, since I've given myself a head start on it all (as was originally waiting for my hols from work), I'm not going to let it worry me. It will be worth it in the end so trying to focus on that!
Going to take some of the vacuum bags that I don't need back to the shop and exchange them for some more storage boxes that I do need - that will be a better use of the money spent.
Hoping to get all that done this morning so that the afternoon can be mainly relaxing :cool:0 -
Phew...been a busy bee since I was in earlier - managed to get quite a bit done:
- items returned/exchanged (might have bought a new bedside lamp that wasn't in the plan)
- some more sorting of the bits from the spare room (almost done now - rest will have to wait until I get back from trip)
- bedding washed, dried and put back on bed
- towels washed and out to dry
- downstairs windows and patio doors washed
- hoovered & dusted throughout
- bathroom cleaned
- furniture collection booked with charity
) sit down and a drink
0 - items returned/exchanged (might have bought a new bedside lamp that wasn't in the plan)
