I generally go for that option (though I'd rather do 1p so you get the string of 9s), but I'm more motivated by breaking through a level, so it would make me want to try and get down to the next £500/£1k/£5k/etc.

Yay - it's the weekend at last!0 -
Don't know if anyone has seen the news about the massive Euromillions jackpot.? .... well I can confirm that (sadly!) it wasn't me that won:rotfl:
So back to moneysaving ways it is...
I've done a bit of a rebudget this morning as I was finding that my spending was becoming a bit lax in the last few months. Have rejigged a couple of SO's so that some extra money now goes into savings and bill funds at the start of the month. Hopefully that will get me back on track. If it's too much nad I feel that it's too restrictive, I can always review again.
I celebrated the above with a £50 OP
I have one task that is hanging over my head and I want to get it done but without it costing me a fortune. Some of you may remember that I was lucky enough to obtain tickets for a certain HP play. I don't go until April next year and need to book a hotel for the night. It's a Saturday night and so not the cheapest of the week. I fully intended to book a certain hotel chain (PI) when they went on sale back in April this year (as can only book a year in advance) and had a diary note and everything.
This got scuppered slightly as the friend that is coming with me said not to as they can get cheap deals through their work. I therefore didn't but they took a couple of months to get back to me to say they can't book anything til much closer to the time. I'm reluctant to wait in case they can't get the savings suggsted. So, I still need to book a hotel and the ones I wanted that are reasonable costs and are close to the theatre are all fully booked
My other thought was perhaps to stay further away from the theatre (but still ok for tube lines, etc) but I don't really know London well enough to know what could be done, is best, etc. I wondered if any of you lovely MSE peeps could offer up some advice or suggestions?

Have you looked at air-bib?
I've thought about using it a few times, although I as yet haven't had to get a hotel either as have always crashed at mates.Baby Step 1 - £1k Emergency Fund - COMPLETE
Baby Step 2 - Pay off all debts except the Mortgage - £9,326 to go
Baby Step 3 - Save 6 months of expenses into full Emergency Fund - £4,300 to go
Baby Step 4 - Put 15% into Pension
Baby Step 6 - Pay off the Mortgage early
Baby Step 7 - Live like no-one else0 -
I hadn't thought of that. Will look into it - thanks RT0

Today turned out to be a far lazier day than I had anticipated....
... time just seemed to run away with me...decided to write it off entirely and have a takeaway too (most unlike me!) Then have spent the evening watching cheesy 80's movies.....

Lazy day sounds lovely.
We've done airbnb in London a couple of times for visiting family. You can find some good bargains (relative to cost of hotel) if you're willing to walk 5-10min to the tube. Even more so if you don't need a whole place to yourself and are fine with just a room.0 -
Morning
Decided to get a flying start on today to try and make up for yesterday. I was up and out for just after 8am (not as early as RT's 4am start mind ) Has made me ponder why it's easier to get up when it's not for work?
I've got a couple of errands done and now just having a :coffee: and brekkie before I start on the house jobs.
I've finished the book I was sent so want to try and get the review done today so it's out of the way (plus while the book is still fresh in my mind)

Hiya Hidden - think we cross posted. Thanks for popping in
Appreciate the feedback re: B&B - still investigating options.0 -
Well done on your survey cashouts BW and don't be too hard on yourself for having a bit of a spend (says the person whose money is trickling through her fingers right now!
). Maybe you could get some quotes for hotel prices and run them past your friend, pointing out what a fab saving you'll be making by ordering them now? Did you manage to get under the £77 mark? I love breaking through the next 1k barrier.
I hope the weather is being kind to you and today hasn't been too hectic at work.
