Hello AFK  I've just been over in your diary as it happens

Things are ticking along but it's the middle of the month time between paydays and money shuffles...feels like not much happening.

I'm also pondering whether I can squeeze a holiday from the finances this year. I probably shouldn't and do more things in/around the house...but I really feel like I need something to look forward to

Nicely done on the mortgage. :)

Similar debate for us re: holiday. Think we're going to stick with a couple of long weekends this year, plus a wedding to attend in the Lake District. We're doing a big trip next spring for my dad's wedding in the US, so shouldn't go too crazy until then.

I've been good and got my garden jobs done. Bit achey from all the weeding...must be getting old/out of shape (take your pick) :o

It definitely looks better though and I can at least see the results :)

    Thanks Hidden.

It's such a balancing act isn't it. I want to be save/OP/work towards the future but not at the expense of not being able to enjoy life.

Indeed! I want to do all the things at once. The one thing I'm quite happy with is our pension contribution, everything else I feel we could do better on, but balance is really important.

Hi BW. Fantastic news about your pay rise :T and compensation. I think you should definitely treat yourself to a new mattress. When I got my new bed I went to B*nsons (after lots of looking around) and have been really pleased with the service. They also had an interest free offer on which I took advantage of so I could keep the money in my account for longer - might be worth considering?

Sorry to hear you're still down in the dumps. Have you tried meditation? I've found it really useful in helping me to 'manage' my emotions better and refocus me on what is really important.

I hope the sun is shining where you are. (If not I'm sending you a virtual one with a smiley face on it... :) tah-dah!)

    Morning MG :)

Funny you should say that as I have ordered a new mattress this week :p It comes next week. I probably should have waited as cash flow this month is already tight ... but I thought what the heck

I've been looking into mindfulness and trying to live in the 'here and now'.

    Good Morning

Up early this morning due to noisy neighbours :( Decided to get up and make the most of the time (she says...sitting at the computer... :rotfl:)

As mentioned above, it 's been a very spendy week  Not only have I ordered a new mattress, I had a massage, booked a few days away, bought a WR meal deal on impulse and had a boozy night out. I do need to rein it back a bit as I'm conscious the cc is getting a hammering. It has reminded me how 'easy' it is to spend without thinking too much about it.

Should be a cheap-ish weekend though as the only spending should be for fresh bits (fruit and bread) from the supermarket. I've got a joint of pork in the slow cooker right now and looking forward to hot rolls later :p

I had a lottery win last night....£2.50 :rotfl:Nevertheless I've OP'd it as well as a £5 MS payment that came through.

I've also claimed £12.85 from PB and awaiting £4.45 from TCB.

Surveys are still ticking along - and several are approaching cash out level... just not fast enough for my liking! ha ha

Need more :coffee: .. back later

    Good afternoon :)

Quiet but productive morning. Chores done and some surveys completed. £20 voucher claimed.

Now relaxing and catching up on some tv viewing. I may be a bit late to the party on this :o but I've developed a bit of an obsession with The Chase - love it! Although always easy to play along from the sofa :rotfl:
