Sorry if its been posted before and everybody knows, but 40+ pages of posts on here so I'm not going to try and trawl through them. If you love reading you probably love books and prefer them to Ebooks - as I do. However when I go away I used to take between 5 and 7 books to read taking up space and weight so I dabbled into the Ereader world with a kindle.
I love the dictionary, any words I dont fully understand I look up, I love the way you never loose your place and as a MSE I absolutely love the kindle top 100 free books.
Did you know you can download FREE kindle software for just about any device? Kindle for pc works on laptops, Kindle for mac, kindle for Android etc.
Try it, its free. Remember any books out of copyright are free too, I've read quite a few classics just for that reason. Some authors offer a book free just to give you a taste, if you like it you can always buy others from the same author. If your an Amazon Prime subscriber you can borrow books to your device free of charge, I don't know exactly how it works but they aren't removed until you've read them.
I can see no disadvantage in trying it, even if its just for holidays. I have so many books at home that If I buy any more I'll have to start parting with some. Like some I do re-read books I enjoyed. Any thoughts?
Oh sorry - latest good reads from me ... Jo Nesbo, The Snowman, and I would have to recommend all / any of the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly, recently out on Satellite TV I believe, Probably my all time fave's along with Gorky Park - Martin Cruz Smith.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
Hi Mr Generous and thanks for taking the time to post on my diary
As you rightly suspected, I'm already a convert to the wonders of ebooks , though I firmly believe there is a place for them alongside physical books rather than instead of. However, you make some points which may be of use to others when they are passing though
I've never heard of Martin Cruz Smith and will look into their work. Thanks again

Good evening
Well today has been a humdinger on the work front. Think everyone must have woken up in a grump and decided to take it out on me  On the plus side, one day down and nearer to the weekend
I've received a lump sum of around £550 back in my bank account today from the recently replaced bank. I was going to OP it.... but.... I am also looking at buying a new mattress so didn't know whether to put it towards that instead (rather than use savings or credit card). In the meantime, I've transferred it to savings to gain a bit more interest while I decide.
In other money news - £2.68 claimed from a cashback site (not quite as exciting an amount as above :rotfl:)
Very simple tea tonight. Beans on toast with poached eggs. Quick and easy but very tasty (and I think relatively healthy).
Off now to chill...

Evening
Another challenging day on the work front. However, I enjoyed the journey home afterwards as it was lovely and warm and sunny. Reminded me that summer is not far away
Heard back from the bank today. They have investigated my complaint and have decided that it was an unnecessary error and they apologised. Got £125 compensation ... result! :T They were very swift to look into the matter and I have to give them credit for that.
Busy day today as also been invited to do a mystery shop for a company that I have done some work for in the past. It will be a £50 payment though isn't until next month.
Seem to have a constant craving for biscuits at the moment too... trying to resist

Compensation is always a wonderful thing! Well done for complaining.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
TGIF!!
Had issues with BB and TV since Weds - problem in local area - thankfully all fixed now. Was beginning to dread the thought of a weekend with no internet :rotfl:
Received my car service plan refund and duly OP'd. Little else to report on the money front.
Fallen behind on survey stuff due to the lack of internet. Will try and catch up a bit over the weekend.
Thanks for the posts Hidden and SSS

Afternoon.
Well the working internet was shortlived...got up this morning to find BB and TV totally down this time  Another call to provider and this time got them to credit me for loss of service. It's been up about 10 minutes - but no idea if it is fixed or just a temporary resolution so making the most of it!
£2.78 OP made today which was a cashback payment that has arrived.
New bank account that I opened in last couple of weeks is also up and running so recent work bonus transferred to that to earn more interest.
Right need to shake a leg. Back later (hopefully!)

Hope your internet is fixed now, it's so frustrating when it breaks! x0
