Debt has ended my relationship :(

Congrats on realising you have an issue and doing sensible things to resolve the issues. Sorry to hear about your relationship break up though.
If you do decide to try out YNAB I highly suggest you find time to attend some of their free classes especially the one Dealing with Different Pay Cycles as it will specifically show you what to do when your income goes up and down like yours does and how to manage it. The class I attended had someone that was a teacher like you and didn't get paid over the summer so they showed her how to try and build a buffer so there was money available still when she wasn't working.
Thanks, have been looking at some videos online regarding YNAB and will do some more reading.0 -
Hi San just a quick drop in from me while im away to see how you are doing and my oh my how in control are you now! While I'm sorry to hear your relationship broke down completely I'm amazed at how well you are doing with your plans!!! I went through a long phase of denial after an ex partner left me (after I took over his debts like the mug I was) I absolutely love your strength!!
As for YNAB I have been trialling it for for about 3 weeks and I can't live without it now!!! I hope it works out for you too!
Be proud of what you have achieved so far and keep it up!

House bills (Rent, Council Tax, Water, Energy, Food etc.) yes, but not the mobile contract.
The mobile is just another unsecured debt, and should not receive preferential treatment.
EDIT: I see the mobile contract is gone, so please ignore the above.0 -
Very tempted to phone and cancel, however it is my lifeline for getting supply work.
I suggest you cancel the contract, and go PAYG @ £10pm.If I was to cancel the contract and sell the phone I might be able to pay it off and get it off my debt list.
In that case, cancel and sell the phone, then buy a cheap basic phone, and go for the £10 PAYG.0 -

Hmmm do those work in Scotland too?
Looks like they might - see eligibiility below. I suggest you contact one of the providers to find out more. Try emailing ske@edgehll.ac.uk
I work in teacher recruitment in the South East and there are simply not enough teachers in these subjects and more PE teachers than there are PE jobs. Your employment prospects would be significantly better. Your ability to work with young people is what is most important - thats hard to train - knowledge is easier to impart to you.
Find one of your supply schools and see if they will support you - they may even be able to offer you a 1 day a week contract in these subjects if you are committed to training in the shortage subjects. You may not qualify is you are on supply nly, although you appear to have employment rights and the provider may accept this . You won't know til you ask. There are lots of providers offering varying length courses , some online.
Good luck on your journey to make things better for yourself.

Before you apply for a place on one of the courses, you need to check (please tick to confirm) that you meet the eligibility criteria. The essential criteria currently listed by NCTL (formerly the teaching agency) are:- You hold Qualified teacher status (QTS) and have either completed or are in the process of completing your NQT Year.
- You are currently employed in a state funded school as a teacher.
- You have not been trained in the SKE subject you intend to study.
- Your attendance has the support of your school. You will need to provide a letter from your Headteacher to confirm this.
- Additionally, because the programme at Edge Hill also covers the pedagogy required to deliver mathematics, physics, chemistry, or language specialism across the Key Stages, we require that you have some of periods of that subject on your timetable while you are studying on the course. That way, you can maintain a reflective log as part of our assessment process to show how you are putting the ideas covered on the course into practice in your own classrooms.

Well I now have a £2500 loan. Should arrive in a few days. Minimum could apply for was £1500 and decided that a small loan was enough. I am considering it a £2000 loan as will clear my overdraft with it. Will also clear the 2 Paydayloans will which will probably cost about £1200-£1400 after charges and interest.
However, we have a newish flatscreen. OH wants to take this to his brother's flat and has offered me some money as we bought it 50/50. Think I might just let him have it.
Hi, are you settled back at your parents' house now? I hope you keep your diary going so that we can offer support and encouragement as you clear your loan, pay back your parents and get back on your feet both practically and emotionally.
Hugs, Satchmo xWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

Thanks! I am not sure what other subject I would like to teach- love the freedom you get with PE but even long term (when I am too old for the wind and rain etc) another subject would be good.0
