All the 'well done mate' posters are now having second thoughts after the 'i've got twenty grand and a 30k job lined up' response.

    I'm with BigAunty.

    Shenanigans.

I don't know how much evidence you need to prove adverse possession - you need expert advice on this, I just assume that your hand is strengthened if you can provide proof.

I am shocked that Coventry council has such a weak empty homes policy and no-follow up on non-paying council tax properties that would lead them directly to abandoned ones, even if neighbours did not draw their attention to it.

It's a shame that a family sized property has been neglected in an area that's bound to have thousands of needy families on their waiting list and a single person without dependents with good savings and a high salary has a sense of entitlement to gaining ownership for free.

However, I call troll on this thread. Touch of the Andy wind-up merchant to it.

It is not Coventry City Council, It's a Midlands Council, i just gave an example just incase someone on here reports me to the council or a council representive is on here.

I can show proof of the transaction i made today to show who own the property.

Though I do understand where your coming from, i would be a bit skeptical... I wouldn't of even been in the building I would of been in a youth hostel until i reached a cetain age and I had to go but because i could come and go to my nans house freely most of time to clean myself up, have hot food, clean clothes it made it things more easier. Gosh I would be sad little man if I was creating this for a laugh or a joke.

Thanks yeah sorry should of done that in the first place. It seems freehold is a better postion to be in instead of leasehold as you own the actual land and has no limit.

I would never lie, I am not like that, my nan cashed in her pension many years ago and was planning on giving it to me years ago but I was very young then. I worked at jaguar in the past as an administrator via an agency and there were postions available to work in the finance dept. I applied told how I used to work for them before as an agency temp. 4 weeks later got invited in for a second interview and told I've got a job.

I'm not. If OP doesn't stay in this house, he will have to rent somewhere else, which means one less home available to other people, and this house still laying unused.

Well, if we are to believe you.....

You now have £20K in the bank and the promise of a job paying £30K, so why don't you do what anyone else in that situation would and rent a place legally until you're in a position to buy something that is actually for sale. You have noted the possibility of getting a criminal record if you continue to squat, do you really think JLR would continue to employ you if that happens?

    I agree.

If this scenario were real, the OP would need utility bills for the whole period at the very least.

And if Jaguar doesn't have a problem with it, another employer might want to do checks further down the line.

This thread has got to be a wind up.

    Dazo,

Yes, there is a scheme where people can buy a council house for a discount. However, this is only for people who have been official tenants for a certain number of years. it would not apply to you in your situation.

I think he's done well, if what he's said is true then he's had a really rough start in life so to be getting a 30K job at age 21 is something to be proud of. If making use of an abandoned house helps him climb the ladder a bit more then good luck to him. He's not hurting anyone and he's not depriving a family of a house as it's been left empty for so long.
