    UU's -

Kerastase Densifique conditioner sachet - WMBA, but it is expensive!

Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo - WMBA, I do like Tresemme and the smell, but their bottles just seem to blinking last forever!

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

Hi all, I'm new to this thread and to be honest I don't understand any of the abbreviations you're talking about. UU's, IN's etc :)

I really need to stop buying unnecessary toiletries. I mainly use Elemis (QVC), Liz Earle(QVC), Galvin and Galvin (amazing hair brand and only £4 each in Morrison's) but with a lot of etc's added on. I know I spent too much and I know that money would be better off paying my debts. Problem is there is just something about shiny new cosmetics. On Friday I brought two new Rimmel colours, Bewitch and Seduce, I tried them on and neither suit me. So what do I do with them now? I've also got 3 boxes of hair dye that are too dark for me and about 3 drawers of products I either forgot I have or I buy on a whim.

My goal is to not buy anything else this month. This weekend has been terrible. I'm awful if I'm left on my own and as my partner works every other weekend that happens a lot. I've brought:
-3 hair dyes (used one, but others are too dark)
-Brazilian Hair Therapy Serum (only because it smells amazing and is reduced in Superdrug to £3.39)
-Body shop Mountain Rose teeny perfume (smelt lovely in the shop but has a jasmine edge that gives me a headache!)
    -Body shop hair masque.

So I'd love to join this thread and check the spending in check.

    Welcome Corrag! :T

So you've seen the light on shiny new cosmetics have you :rotfl:

There is a page at the start I'm sure with all the abbreviations, but the one you'll hopefully use most from now on is 'UU' which means 'used up'.

'Ins' is really just that, things that have come 'in' to your stash - these are bad and should be avoided at all costs :rotfl:

    WBA - would buy again
WMBA - would maybe buy again
WNBA - would not buy again

Hope that's a good starter for you!

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.
  • My Superdrug order came today so more INS to declare:

Beyonce Heat Mrs Carter World Tour EDP
    Kylie Minogue Music box EDP
Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Tropical EDT
3 x Garnier Miracle Skin Cream Anti-ageing samples included in the order

The perfumes will come in handy as emergency birthday/christmas presents so I will try not to use them until I've finished the ones already opened.

That's brilliant thank you Hieveryone :)
Seen the light?....well yes but its going to be a struggle. I'd keep on buying but I'm getting fed up with the big bold statements of these wonder products and there failure to actually work :) Plus I hate to think of the money I've wasted over the years. I'm thinking of getting super organised and writing all my products down on a list. That should stop me buy more :)

    you were right! tada

    Useful abbreviations and jargon!

    WBA - Will Buy Again
    UU - Use Ups
IN - Self explanatory - stuff you've gained into your stash - warning: lines may be given out for unnecessary purchases or you may be sent to the naughty step!
NBI - A non-bought item such as a present, gift with purchase or free sample
WNBA - Will Not Buy Again!
Glitch - when a shop/online store make a pricing mistake so you end up paying less or even get freebies!
PYN(M/T/W/Th/F/Sa/Su) DELETE AS APPROPRIATE! - Paint Your Nails Monday/Tuesday...... it allows everyone to try and finish those dastardly nail varnishes with group support! You can never be too groomed for this thread. Also see PY(T)N... - for toenails!
Splutterer - the stage where an item is nearing the end of it's life and spluttering - also the most annoying and seemingly never ending stage!
GWP - Gift With Purchase - a sample or mini sized item
HG - Holy Grail - this is the product you would go back for time and time again, it does the job brilliantly, and is either economical, or so fantastic price becomes no object!
NPI - Near Purchasing Incident (OMG we all have those!)
LHJ - Long Haul Job - for those products - love 'em or hate 'em - that never seem to end no matter how often you use them
PRCP - Pink Rose Candle Philosophy inspired by Erma Bombeck who said: 'If I had my life to live over again I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose that melted in storage'. Don't keep things 'for best' or 'for a special occasion'. That day never arrives. Give the best to yourself now and enjoy it. (Thanks to McCulloch29 for introducing this thought provoking sentiment to us)
GA - for an out that was given away to charity, as a present, or "just because" rather than binned or UU
TA - for an out that was thrown away due to going off (generally as it has been lurking at the back of a stash since time immemorial) or for any other reason such as a broken container or spillage
PP - Project Pan: a list of specific items targeted to be used up

    Welcome!

I see the others have filled you in with the abbreviations, but I had a thought about the too dark hair dyes. If you've got the receipt and they've unopened then you should be able to return. I've had emergency hair dye I've bought before, just in case, and have been able to return it when I've not needed it.
    No more goo hoarding!

So sorry to hear about the flooding round where you are rosemary, hope everyone is safe and that there is not too much damage.

Welcome corrag - good to see you :)

I am the same with buying new cosmetics, I often buy as a cheer me up but it is only ever a quick fix and means my debt doesn't reduce as quickly as it could and I hardly even use half of the stuff I ever buy!

I am getting slightly better but it is still tough going. I recently did a car boot sale and got rid of a fair few things. Good way to get rid of things that you have tried maybe a few times - obviously I didn't get anywhere near what I paid for stuff but it was a good way to get rid of some cheaper products. Ebay can be good for getting rid of more expensive stuff but can be a bit hit and miss.

    Morning all, and welcome corrag.

    I have some NBIs:

    14/175. L'Occitane Shine Mask 8ml
    15/176. L'Occitane Divine Cream 1.5ml
    16/177. L'Occitane Ultra Rich Face Cream 1ml

I received a £10 no minimum spend voucher from L'Occ but used it to get a few small items for my DH *polishes halo*, however the men's freebies were rubbish so I chose these. Will be used on holibobs later this month.
