How big is the block grant we get from Westminster and what is it spent on?
I think it's something crazy like 8 or 9 Billion and pretty much funds most of the public sector in regards to anything to do with Councils & policing (I think)

None of the above. 'Cause it's going to be a loud NO.
I cannot see it being anything less than 2:1 against. If people going into the polling booths think that there is a chance that their security or financial prospects will be damaged they will vote against despite what they might say in public.

A UI maybe a good idea then as the Public sector needs serious shrinking.

When you look into things a bit deeper it makes you wonder how the likes of an United Ireland or an Independent Scotland would work..... Maybe I'm overthinking it a bit

For Example.... take the Public Sector....
In either Scenario, who would take responsibility for all the Public Sector Pensions??? Could you imagine it...... If there was a United Ireland or Independent Scotland, they will have to pay for all the pensions of Teachers, retired police officers, retired politicians, and every other Public sector worker. In the case of Ireland, it would bankrupt the place again I recon considering the size of the public sector here... or would they just want to "Pick and Choose" what they take and don't take.....

Will be interesting to see how the Scotland Vote goes but if it were a "Yes", will it then put the spotlight back on a referendum here in Northern Ireland ???? Could be a very interesting end to this year....

Of course it would work. Croatia works, Estonia works, Montenegro works. They're just poorer, that's all. Whether you think that's a good idea or not is a matter of opinion. As noted on another thread about England seceding from the UK, it could get nice and quiet very quickly. County kilburn and ballycamden could get very overcrowded.

Yeah but they weren't exactly fully developed Countries when they went it alone and it couldn't really have gotten much worse for them at any rate ..... and they got a !!!!!! load of funding from the EU I believe.... In Scotland's and Northern Ireland's case it's a whole different kettle of fish..... It "could" potentially get worse, a lot worse..... !! Obviously it wouldn't just happen over night and there would be years of a transition period but those years would be VERY unsettling for people and companies and would potentially put off investors also...... Apart from Hong Kong, are there many other countries/territories/principalities of what I would call "Fully developed" rather than developing (so not as much to loose in a sense) that have decided to go it alone in the past few decades and how did it go for them??

If the Westminster subsidies were to stop it would be an immediate cataclysmic slump. The period of adjustment would only start after that with whatever population we had left.
As is well recognised, the ex communist states of Europe had colossal emigration following their collapse following 1989. Some have pulled up since quite well. Others are called Albania, Ukraine and Moldova.
