The Mail gets dirty

For the third day in a row the Mail pillories the private parking industry, and the NHS is coming in for much of their fire, Aintree Trust deserves a special mention, and the world and his dog now know of Roxburghe's dodgy past, poor doddering old Michael Sobell will not appreciate the publicity either.

Anyone now taken to court only needs to show the judge these articles and the PPC will have more of a mountain to climb than they do already, it must surely also be building up a head of steam for Their Lordships to overturn the Beavis decision.
There is an election soon so expect lots of noise from putative MPs anxious to fall in with public opinion. I bet that all three parties will include parking reform in their manifestos.

The Mail have been campaigning against private parking enforcement contractors for a long time. They campaigned against clamping on private land. As a result, people who have no right to can now park in the visitors bays where I live, and there is no longer any effective action we can take against them.
Drivers. If you don't want to be ticketed, don't park where you are not meant to. Simple.0 -
I have exactly the same problem Nick with two of my rental properties. One Porsche owner with a 63 Plate monopolises a visitor space, every time I visit and have to park in the street I am tempted to key a large "V" (for visitor) on his shiny bonnet, perhaps one day when I am in a bad mood ...
We have installed a rising bollard at another property and put up warning signs, which seems to have worked.
Moral, do not rent property to riff raff. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Surely clamping someone because you want the space kept clear for visitiors is counterintuitive
For cars that park in visitors bays when they shouldn't there are plenty of ways residents can deter repeat offenders.
I remember getting a parking ticket in 2000 outside Brighton University. The fine was quite annoying but nowhere near as annoying as the hi-tac A4 size sticker placed on the driver’s side window which took forever to remove and came off in stamp sized chunks.0 -

Actually, there are often very few or none at all. I am coming to the conclusion, in one property that I own, that self-ticketing is the way to go.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

I'm not so sure as if I were Mr 911 I would find this quite annoying:

Or just use the 'polite notice' sticker method. After having to scrape off the 10th sticker he might reconsider his parking habits.0 -

The DM Is putting the information out there, it is up to the general public to take heed. Unfortunately there is a large section of society who tend to denigrate everything the DM publishes. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

I agree. 2nd highest circulation in the UK (top is the Sun) yet Guardianistas with a circulation of 13% or the 14 Independent readers think that their right to sneer should be given precedence.
Luckily, any article in the Mail will reach a higher audience.0 -

If the punishment fitted the crime, so to speak, it would be a different matter. But charging people £100 for overstays, incentivising the operatives who ticket motorists on a payment by results basis is not the way forward.0 -

I think parking wardens should be paid by results. Illegal street parking in my area is widespread and hazardous.
Personally, I've never had a parking ticket. Perhaps because I don't park illegally?0
