Okie doke! TSB classic all set up. I take it I have to wait for a card before I can switch? Apologies for starting this giant question ball rolling Karlie! You've been very patient with us banking noobs.

You're like the financial Obi-Wan Kenobi to my Luke Skywalker. Soon I'll be able to use the force on my own, promise!

Just a word of caution on opening current accounts - only do this if your credit reference can take it, and don't go mad opening them if you are planning on applying for a mortgage as it may affect your chances (I don't know what effect it has but better to be safe than sorry!).

Other than that, it would be rude not to take up their offers :).

I haven't got M&S in my stable yet but am planning to - I am considering the paid for account as you get £50 vouchers for opening the account plus the switching bonus (but have to pay £10 per month for 3 months). So after fees £20 up and they apparently send other vouchers/offers out too.

Yes, I think you can also downgrade before 3 months as you're likely to receive your £50 Gift Card within that timeframe.

    ;)

And If you have any redundant accounts kicking about and two of you have Nationwide accounts (or one of you does and one can open a new one) you can get £50 each recommend a friend bonus:
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/landing-page/recommend-a-friend - £35 Quidco Cashback for new accounts (not sure if would work with RAF .. but Quidco says no switch required so could open, get Quidco then switch :).

    It says switch required:

DS3, announced two weeks ago that he was going to set up an ISA and put in £200 per week as he could get 2%…..

I did not go :eek::eek::eek: at the £200 or at the 2%

I gently reminded him that he does not pay board and still owes us for the last two cars, and one years insurance! He went :eek::eek::eek:

    :eek::eek::eek:

    Flippin heck.

Have you sorted out a payment plan with him?

Isn't it strange? I do like nice clothes and make up, toiletries and stuff. I think my previous shoe and handbag over buying habits might just have been my shopaholic tendencies, rather than actually liking what I was buying :o
I have never been a jewellery person. Or a blingy person. I have pierced ears but never wear earrings. I wear my wedding ring and silver ring my dad bought me as a teenager and I wear a silver chain with a daisy on it that Ive worn forever!! and a very nice but old watch. I never change any of them if I go out, I never buy or wear costume jewellery.
I do have quite a collection of lovely jewellery and I wear none of it :o my OH doesn't buy me it anymore :o

Not so far off myself. I have my wedding rings and one other special ring that never comes out of the box. I have one locket but the chain is broken the now and I haven't replaced/fixed it. I have loads of custom jewellery that has been given to me as gifts which I never wear either. I often wonder why folk buy me it when I never ever wear it ??

You can do it without the debit card - only if switching to Halifax. Just click on 'I don't have a debit card' with their online form.
