Even if the insurer didnt mention that they could buy clothes and claim it back how on earth can someone think that flying out with clothes is going to be cheaper than just buying something locally?

Fine, if he wanted to be with his sick kid and support his wife thats fine but dont claim it was the clothes that caused him to incur the cost.

The insurer is responsible for dealing with the issues from when the baby became sick and it was clear that there was a likely claim to be made.

You complain about the standard of hygiene during the extended stay but dont say if this was at the same hotel where they'd stayed during the main holiday or if they'd had to switch hotels for the extended stay element?

If its the same hotel then there can be a complaint about the general level of hygiene there but unless you have a doctors report linking the sickness to the hotels hygiene then you are simply looking at a token payment. Esp if you didnt raise the issues with the rep when you first spotted them.

I doubt the son/ husband was travelling for the full four days that the mother and child remained there, plenty of time to speak to the insurer about additional expenses etc.

linsell, I don't understand why your son flew back out to take them clothes - surely they could have bought something out there? Which Sensatori resort was it? I trust the child is now ok?

I was referring to the day he left and she was left sitting in reception without being put in a hotel room ;)

Mother was on her own with sick child. Hardly in a position to go on a shopping spree.

Getting basic clothing to last a couple of days whilst your kid is sick doesnt really require a shopping spree or trips to Chanel, Prada and Gucci to sort it out. Most resorts have on site shops that will cover off a spare change of clothes, nappies etc a lot cheaper than a flight

    But you can phone people.

I've known concierge arrange for a range of suits/ shirts/ ties/ shoes to be brought to a hotel room for someone to buy something at 10pm when a bag went AWOL and there was no time to get to the stores before the morning meeting.

The OP says they were at a 5 star resort, I am sure the hotel concierge could have a basic T Shirt etc in a size 16/ L or whatever brought to the room from the resort shops and bought

Don't be so silly, of course you can. The child had an ear infection, not malaria!

It was described as an acute ear infection, the child was very ill.
An ear infection can be extremely painful and include a fever, taking a child out in the heat not recommended.but perhaps there was another reason the father joined them, we will have to wait and see.

As per my prior post. I can fully understand the father wanting to be there with their sick kid and to support their wife but that is a very different from saying he had to buy another return ticket to be able to get clean clothes to them
