Lets be realistic in the timings. It will be an hour from the tech getting the keys, driving it on the ramp, doing the job, parking it up and having a coffee. He wont be struggling on the driveway with his dads set of Whitworth open-enders and using two tins of WD40 to persuade the nuts off.

Wow, £20 - 30 for 1.5 hour labour is mighty cheap for a mechanic.
putting new dop links on only takes 5 minutes so does a mechanic really need 1 hour and 25minutes to take 4 nuts off?:o
It shouldn't take more than 30minutes for a mechanic.

I cannot see it taking any less than an hour in total dealing with my car from start to finish. And it is a 52 plate with original links, so will probably be a bit of fighting with the bolts. :)

You're basing that on one side needing doing. The OP used plural, so I was assuming both sides.

No i'm not. 2 sides x 25mins = 50 mins + 5 mins to get on ramp & remove wheel with air tools + 5 minute to make a cuppa on op = 1 hour labour.

If I can do two sides on a Focus on my driveway with a trolley jack, without making use on my impact gun and with crappy allen keys making an easy job hard in less than an hour then there's no reason a fully equipped garage and qualified mechanic can't.

The indy garages round here seem to be more like £50/ hour. I could maybe get it a bit cheaper but I know these guys will do a good job. Will need to do my research in my local area for a good reliable cheaper place to take my car, had a few nightmares, so a bit paranoid where I go :P

It would be difficult to get renewing a droplink wrong. As far as repairs go, this has got to be as easier than removing a road wheel. Anyone with a spanner, allen key and a bottled of WD40 can do this job.

Now add on the £20 for the link for the other side.

it's easier to change them when they are new rather than rusted:rotfl:

On a serious note there is no guarantee that if i pay £20 for each side than they will last longer, some do and some don't.
