Blinging Up Baby

Talk about car crash television

The woman talking about how her daughters were her Barbie dolls
The woman talking about how she was going OTT dressing up her daughter at such a young age whilst she was too young to object
"I want her to grow up to be a celebrity"
Fake tans for two year olds !!!
"My three year old is my best friend"

My flesh was crawling.

None of the fathers seemed to be around -and apart from one part-timer none of the Mums appeared to work - where on earth was the money coming from ? I suspect DWP may be taking an interest in some of these families fairly soon.

I just felt so sorry both for the Mums and the daughters who all seemed to believe that all that mattered in life was looking good and "winning" <shudder>

I find people like that so very sad. They really are not in touch with reality and will have a long way to fall .........

Sad? They're barking mad and abusing their children.

We were both shouting at the tele NOOOOO when the little girl was dancing on the floor in a very suggestive way for a 4 year old:eek:

I watched this, horrendous parenting. I really feel for those children, and their severe lack of childhood, because none of them actually seemed to have one, sad state of affairs given that they are the next generation. I can't see it making for wholesome happy adults.

I also read yesterday about bikini waxing being available for 9 year olds! the therapist doing it should be shot.

If you walk down any high street near me, you will see plenty of examples of children (always young girls) who are dressed totally inappropriately IMO.
I sometimes wonder if the parent (s) cannot be charged with grooming a child to be sexually precocious?

I caught a bit of this as well and was pretty gobsmacked.

The mothers are doing it for themselves, not for their daughters.

Yes, my girls like sparkly things, but not in excess like these mums.

And where are they getting the money from for all this stuff? The mum going in to put £10... no, wait £11 on a dress as a down payment. I mean, come on, you think this is what your daughter wants. Maybe she would rather you save the money and have a decent future instead of still living off benefits in 20 years time.

And the mum who started crying because she was getting nasty comments. True, whoever said her daughter should go in a blender was completely unecessary, but why do it to your own daughters? And their names?!!

And the poor terrified girl who didn't want to go on stage, sobbing her little heart out. Of course, then she did, dressed in hardly anything and dancing like she was in a lapdancing club.

If you have a child tall for their age it can be VERY hard to get age-appropriate clothes at a sane price (the retailers often quoted for it are not the cheaper end of the market)... my eldest is only 2 and in clothes for a 4/5 year old (their dad is very very tall and they're off the top of the height charts the pair of the kids) and I'm already struggling a bit to find stuff that's nice and suitable for a toddler and not emblazoned with stuff like "kiss me I'm gorgeous" and worse (or even worse still... covered with One Direction's faces).

Haven't seen the programme yet but I bet they'd freak out at my 2 year old's legs - slightly tanned naturally, covered in bruises and scrapes and interesting scabs to pick off... the way little girl legs should be (I haven't been beating her up - she's been scootering, sliding, climbing and generally getting into being a toddler).
