How to prove no claims discount on car insurance

I have a similar problem, I just took out car insurance with Privilege and I told them I have 12 years NCD, which I do. They want proof that I have 9 or more years NCD. SwiftCover will only provide proof that I am entitled to 5 or more years NCD, which is true but doesn't prove what it needs to. Why can't companies deal with absolute numbers and save everybody a lot of trouble?
I'm sure this is a new trend, up until recently I never had to give my new insurer any more than the name of my old insurer and they would obtain proof of NCD themselves, what changed?
I think Poppycat has the right idea but it stinks that that's the only way to get anywhere with these people. My girlfriend had that exact same issue with Lloyds and she resolved it in the same way too.
R.I.P Customer Service.
I'm with Swiftcover - last week they told me on the phone that my renewal notice would state 5 or more years NCD, but if I wanted the actual number (will be 6 fingers crossed) then they would supply that on request. Perhaps you were unlucky with who you spoke to? Unless the bloke I spoke to was telling porkies...0 -
I can't recall seeing any details of NCB entitlement on any renewal or policy I've ever had in 40 years motoring.
I'm certain it's been there on all of mine and this is what new insurers use to check (normally).0 -

Just shows how things can vary, have to admit I've used probably 5 companies during that time, Directline for the last 12 years I think, never seen one there;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Have you been looking for it though?
It's a fairly small bit of information, so it's easy to miss especially if you weren't looking for it.
Have you gone and checked now you know what you are looking for.
I'm willing to bet it's there.0 -

Amout of NCB is always quoted on a renewall as by accepting the renewall you are agreeing to the terms0

It's worth buying insurance via a cashback site (QuidCo/Topcashback/etc.) as you can get a good quote and £50+ cashback too.0

I'm sorry but it's not, maybe some do, but certainly not all, unless protected no claims means max no claims??I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I need to know about my NCB because I am driving hubby's car since mine got wrote off in 2007,but I never lost my NCB because I wasn't at fault.
I contacted Saga, who were my insurers for my written off motor and was told that although I have been driving 3 years and she told me that I don't have any NCB anymore!
How can this be right?
She refused to access my file to help and now I'm wondering if I am driving legally.!
All this because the it will be cheaper for me to insure our car than for hubby who is 73.
Can anyone enlighten me please.
Thanks in advance.0
