According to the Daily Mail you can buy this for £26 from India. Anyone know the best place to buy, please? Many thanks.

Brits interested in giving the handset a try can order for a Karbonn A50S by first registering with an Indian courier firm using a local postal address either of their friends or relatives living in India. They can then buy the smartphone online and get it delivered to the address in India and forward it finally to their UK address.
While getting the Karbonn handset delivered in the UK will cost around £20, there is no need to pay for any import duty as for the handset being extremely cheap.

so with delivery its about £50. What about if it becomes faulty, ship it back to India???

No thanks! i.e. a Moto E is much better spec phone at about £70 with no warranty issues

Yet another Daily Mail crap headline grabbing story about NOTHING

    Avoid!

It might be £25ish, but it's an awful, awful phone.

You will be liable for 20% vat on the cost of the item including postage and insurance. That charge also applies to gifts under the circumstances you described. Normally, gifts up to £36 in value are vat free, but the value includes postage and insurance...

    From HM Revenue and Customs:

    To qualify as a gift:
    • the customs declaration must be completed correctly
    • the gift must be sent from a private person outside the EU to a private person(s) in this country
    • there is no commercial or trade element and the gift has not been paid for either directly or indirectly by anyone in the UK
    • the gift is of an occasional nature only, for example, for a birthday or anniversary

Presumably you've got one and have been using it - so some real first-hand feedback on why it is 'awful, awful' would be great.

You don't need to buy one to know that a cheap phone is absolutely carp specifications is going to be awful.

Even the cheap Chinese phones (that are pretty poor in their own right) come with 512MB RAM and a decent storage memory for apps these days.

This pile of droppings comes with:
Karbonn A50S features a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 pixel touch screen display, 256MB RAM, plus 512MB internal storage, front and rear cameras.

    480x320 screen, 256MB RAM and 512MB storage?

2010 called, they want their phone back...

Exactly what he said, but I'm going to say 2009 wants it's phone back instead.

What a shame. I thought someone was actually talking from experience.

Well unless those Indians have managed to do what no other phone maker can, the 256mb ram will severely cripple the performance of this phone making operations quite tedius. Shame really.
