I have used my aldee £5 off voucher - and as dh also bought a paper, we shall give that voucher to lovely neighbour.
For my £55, I got exactly what was on my list and some bargains, which I know really means that I didn't keep to my list!
I got dd some school shoes for £6.99 - dh bought her some cheapie ones, which now we have them, we reckon they won't last very long at all. She wears through the heels! So, another even cheaper cheapie pair and she can alternate them and they may last a little longer. But the following pair will defo be proper ones - clarkz or m&s.
I also bought some thick hot choc mix that is g-f, as dd has discovered she likes hot choc. And they had 'sachets' of Hello K1tty hot choc for 99p, which do 20 drinks. So I got 2, as dd and her little friends are all into HK, and they'll do as extras for Cmas. All in all, a total of £12.95 extra. I shall go on the naughty step now.
Hmmm. Cmas. Am making bunnies for lots of dd's friends (17 so far!!!), so they are virtually cost-free. I now have all the fabric I need - and have banned myself from getting any more - and they are being stuffed with the filling from old pillows. We still have 4 pillows in the loft, so plenty more bunnies can be made!
Off to drop off a bag to the Sally Army soon, to get my £2 creadit. I'd like to get 10 of these done by Cmas, to get £20 of 'free' money and also to just get rid of so much stuff.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hello everyone,
Hope you are all having good weekends. I'm looking forward to the September challenge - I haven't really achieved what I want to do in August, but a lot has happened and I'm feeling a bit rubbish so trying to be kinder to myself. Thursday and Friday were SFDs, but had to get a prescription and some health stuff today. Will grocery shop tomorrow with my aldee voucher, but am going to include that in September budgets.
Fmess - fab work on debt reduction!:j
Calling - sorry to hear stomach is still bad, hope you're OK
Lilt - you will be missed, but totally understand you have a lot going on at the moment. Glad you will be cheerleading though! :TMystery shop sounds interesting, hope it goes well.
Kat - hooray for resigning! Well done you!
Tiptoes - knitting presents sounds a fab idea. I went on a learn to knit course a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, but I never seem to get round to doing any - I have had half a scarf for at least 18 months...:o
Applemuncher - extra purchases all sound like good bargains, so not too bad!
OH is at a stag do today, so I'm going to get the ironing done while watching some lovely trashy TV!

Hugs to those that need (or want) them.
A NSD (unless I give in to the chocolate cravings - no must be good).
DS3 has gone to the city for a picnic (sorry for the rain everyone). Two picnics in Manchester (there's another bigger organised one but he was a bit vague about what that was for). So I have mucked out his stable, done 3 lots of washing (one still waiting) and put a fleecy throw, 2 quilts and 3 pillows on the line to air.
Much de-cluttering (not counted or added yet) including a washing up brush (had a spare in the drawer) and a paint brush that didn't bend (bought 10 x 5 packs for £2 each earlier in the year - they had wooden handles and all the new cheapies have plastic handles which tend to snap without warning). Probably half a bin bag of rubbish from DS3's room + empty bottles/ cans/ card/ plastic - all to appropriate bins. Also found 2 boxed set videos (grrr). If I am feeling brave I will venture into his wardrobes (2 x 8'9" x 4' wide) to see if I can find any more - might be simpler to send the rejected ones and any more oddments to cs.
I have painted - only the bits in the front room and stairs and hallway that had marks on them using leftover paint and a tester pot (not paying £10 for a new can). Want to make sure all the bits are done before deciding to use the remaining paint (sides of stairs to attic won't take much). At least it has a chance to dry before someone scrapes it with his laptop.
Rushed to bring the quilts and pillows in as it was getting ready to chuck it down again but definitely rest time now. Have made a curry - DS3 is seeing gf today but she cannot stay over so he may bring another friend back. They will probably have eaten but sometimes they go on a midnight food hunt so good to have something to stop them in their tracks.
Today I am grateful for sunshine (good patch between the rain), for ingredients to use up and for writing things down (last of the cc bills arrived and it was nearly exactly what I had written down). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Evening all
Today was a spendy day as used the Aldee voucher (seems like everyone had the same idea today). I went around Aldee with my calculator, adding everything up so that I didn't spend too much over the required £40. Spent £41.60 and then had the £5 deductedStocked up on lots of items so only fruit, veg, milk, bread and meat to top us up throughout the month, which is good because as I got paid on 22nd, I have spent most of the food budget already. But the food cupboards, fridge and freezer are bulging.
Just had a splurge this afternoon, but for a good cause. OHs friend turned up this afternoon with most of his belongings, so he is definitely staying for a bit (he doesn't want to be a burden but we are both happy for him to move in for a while). The room he is staying in has white curtains, which are useless and let in tonnes of light. I bought them in a rush when we moved in 4 years ago and as we hardly use the spare room, I haven't replaced them. However, I couldn't bare the thought of OHs friend not getting a good nights sleep, especially if he is here for a while, so I popped to Dunelm and bought some blackout curtains. I paid out of my current account, so I'll need to find the money before the end of the month, but I'm up for the challenge!
Hope you've all had a good dayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Very spendy day today buying food for the week, petrol for the car and sending off something I sold on Amazon. However, generally very pleased with August, just need to focus on making through till payday on the 15th Sept as cheaply as possible, then I can celebrate being debt free! I probably won't get chance to post tomorrow, as I am about to press submit on my dissertation (all 73 pages/ 21,056 words of it) and go out to celebrate, so I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed NSK's challenges and the community that's built up, and look forward to being a turtle squirrel in September!

Total fail of a day! No exercise and a trip to Ikea which ended up in a spend and a meal out to recover! We are tying to sort out and tidy up all our paperwork and banking stuff and realised what we needed was a new filing system. So now we are the proud owners of a lovely new mini filing cabinet. Not sure it was strictly necessary but it will keep us organised and tidy. The pizza after was deffo not strictly necessary!!
Going to atone for the lack of exercise with a run bike run practice tomorrow - eek!
LoveaDove - your scrap books and memory boxes sound lovely and very organised. How special and personal. Hopefully not just your children (when they arrive) but your grandchildren and your older self will get a lot from them...
MagicCat your knitting sounds very much like mine to date - but this time will be different!!
Right, off to put together a flat pack filing cabinet with DH - wish us luck!

Today I am grateful for the hoodie I bought dh for his bday - I wear it more than him!, for getting my bike out of the garage and ready for riding, for good coffee, for it still being warm enough to leave the front door open when dd plays out front, for getting the washing mostly dry.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Well today started bad, went to get dog food from garage, keep it in a plastic box, with a concertina type lid and put my hand onto 3 slugs yuck. If my stomach wasn't bad enough turning then. So went to B.& Q. Bought lock down boxes set of them 5 for £20.
Went to Aldi for milk, face cream and fancied tealoaf it is yummy spent £6 with some fruit.
Tummy awful this am, seemed worse so not taking stuff Dr gave me tonight.
Today had nice nosey around homebase, got some essential house stuff I needed more spending!
Seeing I couldn't do what I had planned today, village fete, 40th bbq birthday party tonight was feeling fed up so wandered around seaside bit and had lunch out, hungry for a change bacon egg and chips and a latte. Then went home massive garage clear out, moved all furniture around the lounge and then decided it was better the way it was. Result knackered me and doggy didn't get her second walk.
Chill out day tomorrow once I have taken some floorboards up!
