Ah I see. Feel for you. My pop is also dying but hanging on in there, so I have been a bit if a flap myself. I never really budgeted 'going home' costs in. I should probably do that especially with the latest news from oop north.
Coeliac  I feel for you. We are dairy protein intolerant and you find it in everything... even my works handwash contained milk proteins that brought me out in hives! But Coeliac is so much more difficult.. and expensive! Hope it has been a couple of years at least since you modified your diet. they say it takes that long for all the good stuff in your guts to grow back, (sorry for the ignorance, I can't remember the name of all the little bumpy anemone like things inside your intestines, that get wiped flat...)

Wow – you’ve resigned Kat – how exciting! It’s really really happening!
Hope you are feeling ok Calling, it must be so frustrating.
I do hope you carry on with us Lilt, you can set your xmas budget in as part of the challenge? – I know you have an awful lot to contend with, but maybe we can help? If not, I hope we see you again soon…
My thoughts are also turning to xmas spends, and in keeping with MotherNerd’s wonderful shiny challenge – learning something - I am re-learning to knit and am hoping to knit pressies for peeps this year. I hate the consumerism of xmas anyway, and last year we managed to make December our lowest spend / highest repayment month of the whole time we have been doing this. We are hoping to do the same again this year!
In other news, had the day off work today to do the final bits on the probate stuff for my mum. Then helped her clear out dad’s study – found some lovely things such as water and council tax bills going back to 1976, and Hire Purchase agreements from their first cooker in 1974. Wow. Sad but nice to go through it all. She didn’t want to keep it all, and I don’t have room for all of it, but I have taken some bits to go in the memory box. I found my dad’s blood donor book going back to 1980 too, which made me feel proud I (finally) gave blood this month.
I managed a SFD and did yoga at 7am. It’s mine and DH’s date night tonight, and we have had a lovely home cooked meal and wine. We are both relaxing on the sofa before an early night, so I am cheating really by updating this, but he is playing on the xbox for 10 mins whilst I do so we are both happy! His time is up now, I am off to drag him up to bed!

They are villi, in your intestines. I'm coeliac and a biology teacher so have to know their name.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Update for today:- spent from food budget, lots of treats for OHs guest who needs a bit of comfort food atm. Quite enjoying having someone else here and OH obviously enjoys it.
Went out for lunch with a friend who insisted on payingMade her agree to let me pay next time but already think she has insisted twice in a row. I had budgeted £20 for the day as I was unsure where we'd go and if I needed to pay for parking, but avoided all costs so I paid another £20 off the debt
I'm wondering if I can get to 35% debt free this month. I'd need to find another £100, hmmm I'm going to see if I have anything left to sell!
No exercise today but will go to a gym class tomorrow.
Edit:- just realised if I get to 35%, I'll have less than £9000 of debtLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Ah thank you Biology teacher... It was my favourite science at school. I even did a catch up AS Level of it for fun in my second year of A-Levels, so I really am ashamed! Also my cousin is coeliac and I have long discussed these things with her/my mum.
Wahey on debts and 35|% potential. Even if you can't make it this month, surely next month in the first squirrel turtle challenge you will be there!a good start to the new era for sure...
I will be a cheerleader next monthA nice, vocal, shouty, jabbering, kinda following the rules, cheerleader. Howzat? I really can't budget for potential travel, all of Xmas (£300) and all manner of other things, plus work all month, do SFD's and now apparently watch movies all night every night...
Just earned £10 signing up to Now TV for a free months trial. I have about 9 movies on there I need to watch NOW so I am seeing why they called it Now TV...still a SFD as I have been on my bum since last check in
Night all... (off to watch Thor 2.. or sleep)

Cheerleading has worked for me this month Lilt....hopefully you guys have still felt like I was here! I read up nearly every day, and am generally following the rules, but being away from home (and wifi) a lot - house sitting and hospital - checking in regularly hasn't been possible, and neither has sticking to all the rules / pre planning spending quite as much as I'd like. It sounds as though the same things will be tricky for you next month, so I would recommend Cheerleading. You get all the encouragement without putting yourself under additional pressure, in the way that I usually do when joining in proper. Reading the threads and following your lives is a bit addictive, so you don't want to cut loose completely! I'd say, go for it! That said...I need to come back proper next month, so this month's understandable lapses don't become lazy habits! I want the last 4.5k gone!!0

Hi Lilt - it's been over 6 years now, so I'm used to it. I decided early on simply to eat differently, rather than repace foodstuffs with the gluten-free alternatives. But dd was diagnosed 18 or so months ago, so we are now a g-f household. The consultant told dh he had to be too, to avoid cross-contamination, so he has a couple of tins for 'his' treats!
I think the milk dairy protein intolerance must be awful - as you say, it is everywhere!
Fmess - go girl with that debt-busting!
Have been browsing a couple of Cmas threads to keep me inspired. Love Cmas!!

PS - Lilt - the visit to my uncle was to say a final goodbye. He is ready to go but his body may hang on for several weeks yet. I'll not go back, as we've done the final byes. Maybe you could do that with your pops? Would you then be able to see your mum too?NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

I promise I am reading... Limited internet so not able to post so much (I really miss my laptop). Can't wait to get home and get it back.
Aw, lilt. I am so sad to see you aren't taking part however you are more than welcome to be extremely vocal and cheerleadery in relation to me. I am trying really hard in September and will need all the help I can get.
:undecided
Rightio, based on numbers... I have now reached 12/12 spend free days!! Hooray!!

Exercise is a bit dire (rubbish) only 17/20. Sadly won't be able to achieve that this month. Will have to try harder.

Hey all!
I can not believe this month is so nearly at a close already!! After losing a job and gaining a new job in a different sector, in one month has left me feeling a bit like i've been on a rollercoaster ride! I am itching to get going on this new working adventure and hope that it will be the experience I hope it will be!
It is sad times seeing the end of NSK's challenges, but I am looking forward to partaking in the legacy set by NSK in the form of NST's!
It is amazing to see how much everyone has accomplished throughout these challenges and just goes to show how amazing virtual support can be!!
Kat-Congrats on taking the official next step and resigning! It all must be feeling incredibly real now to you! All the hard work, planning and scrimping is bringing your dream into fruition! *Exciting Times!*
Lilt- Glad you'll be cheerleading next month! I do understand how some months can feel like they will be completely unpredictable. I have stepped out in other months, when certain demands in 'real life' required a lot more attention and flexibility.
TiptoesDB- It must have been difficult as well as humbling to look through your parent's items. I admire your productivity and think Memory boxes are an absolutely fabulous idea! I scrap book a lot of my memories, and at 30 years of age have already filled several large A4 books.I hope my children will enjoy looking through them (once I acquire some!) as time goes by. Memory boxes are brilliant, as you can physically handle items, smell them, they feel like a surprise every time you go through them. I have my Grandad's old hat and my Nan's old purse with her old 60's library card in still. I also have a cudddly toy dog that was my Grandad's, he loved smoking cigars, and even 20 odd years later it still has that slight smell of his cigars, which bring comfort and fond memories of him.
So I am up to 14 SFDs this month, fuel and food has stayed within budget, exercise has been dire- although I am off swimming this eve, despite my slightly snotty condition I'm also hoping to steam it out in a lil steam room. I have acquired my P.I.O through helping a landlady in distress whose banner had collapsed due to revellers the night before. I have had no takeaways and visited no coffee shops! oooo! (I have also been a lot poorer this month through lacking paid employment which has also kerbed my spending!)
I will try and make it in for one last check in tomorrow eve! Hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever you are doing!
Tally ho! x:coffee:
