    Hi Snaggles,

With Stu getting made redundant, he's allowed as much time off from his current work for interviews etc & they can't refuse - this includes interviews with agencies etc. If necessary would you consider an early return to work whilst he stays home with Natasha?

    Only kidding!

Yes, I would consider it - it would actually make a lot of sense financially to do this, but I would hate it.......if it came to it though, I would do it.

They're telling him he can have a maximum of 2 days off per week to go to interviews - is that right? It should be enough I think anyway.

    Helloooooooo!

I've recently signed up for a few survey/cashback sites etc to bring in odd bits of extra money/vouchers etc - I've had a £10 Boots voucher from Pigsback, I've got almost enough on Lightspeed for £10 paypal credit (one more survey needed), £2 on YouGov (could be a while before I get to £50 lol!), and a couple of others.

I keep wondering about mystery shopping - does anyone do it? Am I likely to be able to do it with a baby in tow?

I've been to Ryan's end of term assembly today - it was sooo cute, each class did dances, sang songs, read poems etc. It went on for an hour and a half though, so Natasha got a bit cranky - i picked her up (she was in her car seat), and she threw up down me! Not just a bit either - I was covered in baby sick!

Had to sit there for 30 minutes feeling rather soggy (I managed to get most of it cleaned up with baby wipes thank goodness).

It's a glamorous life, having kids eh?

    Hi Snaggles,

I did my first mystery shop yesterday - it was a piece of cake. They sent all the info I needed beforehand, like what to look out for etc, and all I had to do was buy something to prove I'd been in. Otherwise its just like going into a shop as u would normally. I'm gonna sign up with some other companies now - even tho I go back to work full time in a couple of weeks:eek: .
I took DS with me (5 months old) and he didn't even notice. The only thing I might find a bit restrictive is that usually u have to go within a specific timescale (this one was between 10-3), but u should defo sign up, cuz u can always decline if u can't make it.

I'm sure they can't restrict him like this as he's bound to be applying for loads of jobs right now & has no control over when they call him for interview.

This is what I found on the web:
    Time off for Interviews
    • If employees are required to work during their notice period they are entitled to reasonable time off with pay. This should be agreed by the individual under notice with his or her direct manager.

Which doesn't really help much - but if he got offered 3 interviews in 1 week and had worked the whole week prior then I think that could be classed as reasonable. If he's in a union they'd probably back him up on that, although of course he could always offer to take a half day or whatever without pay.

    Right....rant time!!

Stu has been working for his company for over 8 years and has a pretty much spotless record, but for the last few weeks his boss has been making his life hell. He's been accusing him of things he hasn't done (really bizarre things that he wouldn't even dream of doing), and worst of all, he's been doing it in public, in front of all his colleagues. He's also been playing ridiculous practical jokes, and purposely humiliating him in front of everyone. There was one particularly bad incident last week where he accused him of snooping round the offices reading confidential information and spreading lies..... I can't even begin to explain to you how out of character this would be for someone like Stu, he's the most honest, trustworthy person I have ever met, which is why I love him so much.

Stu was already upset enough about the redundancy (you might remember I started a thread recently about whether men could get post natal depression, and in the end Stu saw the doctor and has been referred for counselling). But this has been kind of the straw that broke the camels back, and on Thursday night he completely broke down (I've seen him cry, like, 6 times EVER, so this was a major thing). He told me he just couldn't face going back into work at all, and can't bear to speak to his boss, or even look him in the eye.

Anyway, the doctor has been brilliant, she has given him a sick note for 2 weeks (just to mention as well, so you don't think he's a bit of a skiver, he has had 3 days off sick in the last 5 years! :A), and he has also raised a formal grievance against his boss, so we're hoping they will agree to make him redundant with immediate effect and still pay him in lieu of notice. He's terrified of what his boss will do when the grievance letter arrives at work tomorrow though.

I just want to go down there and smash some heads in, but a) I'm 5'3 in my heels, and b) I've never hit anyone in my life :o

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest and sorry if it doesn't make sense, I think my fingers are working faster than my brain!

Oh, and just to lighten the mood a bit, all of our eBay items have finished (everything sold!), and we have £63.63 in Paypal after all fees have been taken, and a cheque for £9.99 which has been paid in today. :T
