Wireless Monitor For When Baby Falls Asleep In Car?

Well, call me irresponsible
My DD doesn;t nap any more, but when she did (pre 18 months) I would have this issue too. She was a very light sleeper and could NOT be transferred, nor would she go back to sleep for a nap later if woken, so if she fell asleep in the car I had to make a decision - I'd either drive around till she woke up, which could be a long time and involve lots of costly petrol, OR I'd leave her in the car.
My car is parked on the pavement outside my house, and my living room looks out onto the pavement, so I'd have all windows open and would sit watching the car closely.
Something my friends with iPhones do is use an app that turns the phone into a babgy monitor - if it picks up noise it calls a number your programme in, so the landline of the house where you are, or another mobile, and you can then go and get the child.
Obviously, in this heat I'd be concerned about leaving them even with windows open, so would probably go for the driving around option, but a) it's rare to have this kind of weather here so it's not like it would usually be an issue and b) it's not necessarily a totally stupid thing to do to leave them as long as you can see them and you live in a safe area (which I do). DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

What I don't get is how anyone can guarantee their area is 'safe'. If you have gates and security that screens every person who walks in your area then I understand. Genuine qustion
Weirdos will walk streets looking for mischief. Yes, weirdos who prey on children. Yes, in 'safe' areas.
If a child fell asleep, was a light sleeper and couldn't be transferred why not sit in the car with them reading a book? No petrol wasted, some 'me' time and protecting your child.0 -

There aren;t any more "weirdos" now than there were in the 1950s and children were regularly left completely unattended in those days.
Yes you could sit in the car, but sometimes you have a list of phone calls, etc to make and those things can;t be done from the car, but can be done in the house while looking at the car.
Judge not until you've been in the same position. A light sleeper is a very special type of curse IME.

Helpful can mean pointing out the risks of a situation, rather than supporting it.
Of which I'm sure the OP is fully aware off...
No need to teach grandma to suck eggsShould've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

with some horrible consequences, then, now and probably in the future. People who prey on children have always been around and probably always will be unfortunately. No area is safe, despite what anyone thinks.skintchick wrote: »Judge not until you've been in the same position. A light sleeper is a very special type of curse IME.
That's the thing, I was very open about not being judgemental, and wasn't judging - I was genuinely asking the question and just trying to understand why someone would do this. I make it a point to always try to see things from other people's point of view.
I just think personally that if something ever happened to my child in a car unattended I could never ever live with myself so would never ever take the risk.0 -

But if you're watching them, then you can intervene should anything happen. I'm not talking about completely unattended.
