I have recently moved my current account from Natwest to Santander, completed last week.
I have a HSBC graduate account which I have been keeping purely for the interest free overdraft for work expenses. Having seen this, I am extremely tempted to switch the HSBC account to Halifax for the £100 switch deal (I understand there won't be an interest free overdraft). Is this likely to look bad on my credit rating if I apply for another current account so close to switching my Natwest account over to Santander?
Thanks all0 -

Many thanks for the advice. Just applied and put in for the switch!0 -
I then went again to the switching form and was advised that because it is a joint account I have to make an appointment to go in to the branch.
I seen this too, and just ignored it. I applied for the joint account switch online and it went through (day 7 is today and it's all looking fine) no problems.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -
I have tried applying for this to transfer our joint account.
The online form is only geared up for a single persons account, but I thought it would just ask me for the 2nd person info/account details later on. but before I knew it a new account had been created in my sole name.
You then have to fill in a separate form to switch your account which must match the name you have just filled in exactly.
So I called them ( one number with apparently different opening hours dependng on whether you're an existing or new customer. On calling I was asked for my account number, but as I am a new customer I dont have one.
When I got through I was told she couldn;t deal with it and had to as me on to the online team, who also couldn't deal with it and wanted to pass me back to the original team. They gave me a number to call for online applications (couldnt put me through).
I called the number and they said for joint accounts you have to log in to online banking to !!! in a second person, which I did.
I then went again to the switching form and was advised that because it is a joint account I have to make an appointment to go in to the branch.
At this point I gave up. Way too time consuming and I still have to cancel the new account!!!
After creation, on the webpage with the orange switch button, is also a make this a joint account button.0 -
Went for this using my old HSBC account after.
Switch completed on the 4th September. Checked my account today, no £100 bonus!0 -
I have set my dds up and got 780 going in per month. I am now concerned that I wont receive the 5 pounds because I set up a 500 overdraft which I thought might be a good idea for a safety net in case I went slightly overdrawn. If I dont actually use it, will I still qualify?"It would be easier to find a packet of sliced hippopotamus in suitcase sauce" - Basil Fawlty0

Pay two DDs per calendar month.
Stay in credit per billing period.
It really is as simple as that.0 -

Would the setting up of the overdraft stop the 5 pounds bonus though?"It would be easier to find a packet of sliced hippopotamus in suitcase sauce" - Basil Fawlty0 -

But so there are two of us trying to find an answer to your question, do you see anything in the T&Cs which says you'll forfeit the £5 Reward if you have an overdraft facility set up on the account?0
