Are all in one PC's any good?

sorry to hi jack but what is an "all in one" compared to a normal desktop pc comprising of tower, keyboard and mouse and monitor?
An all in one is similar to a laptop with a separate keyboard. Not easy for the average user to service.
A normal PC is modular. In other words, designed for you to be able for you to change parts relatively easily.0 -
Well I was unsure of which way to go, but that seems to tick all the boxes for a good price.
One thing that confuses me is that it's listed under "cheapest electricals" but there is an option to get it delivered to the nearest Argos store, so who is actually the seller?
It's just a delivery option in case you can't be at home for delivery. Don't get confused about things that don't matter or you'll miss the deal.

I've just read through all the replies and I think you would be better off with a chromebox (small 5"x5" box) with a separate monitor and keyboard.
OR...
The new LG Chromebase, basically an all in one pc which takes up hardly ant space. Literally a monitor with a built-in chromebox. Paired with bluetooth mouse and keyboard and you've got a very neat and tidy set up.
Considering you browse and email, sounds like you dont have a need for a traditional pc (or mac). It comes with a decent office package via google docs or if you absolutely need Microsoft office, you can use the cloud version Office 365.
As for trying to upgrade modern PC's, don't even entertain the idea, upgrading pc's is becoming a thing of the past. Why buy a new CPU, RAM, Motherboard for the price of a new PC!??
Laptop Vs Desktop is a lifestyle decision, price shouldn't come into it. Desktop really just offers you a bigger screen at the end of the day.
Why are you bothering to write such nonsense? If someone was going to upgrade a modern PC with a new CPU, RAM and Motherboard, it would likely take the performance beyond any new low end PC.
It 's not as if they are going to upgrade to your suggested Celeron processor in the LG Chromebase.
£250 for a Samsung Chromebox with a Celeron Processor against the Medion with a AMD A8-5500 for the same price??Laptop Vs Desktop is a lifestyle decision, price shouldn't come into it. Desktop really just offers you a bigger screen at the end of the day.
What a load of rubbish! Desktop offers you higher performance for a lesser price, for a start.
If you think that "price shouldn't come into it', you are on the wrong forum.0 -

It has a decent CPU Benchmark and contains everything that you are likely to need, including wireless capability.
Well three months on and I'm still after a new pc, after a bereavement and work problems and many other issues I missed the opportunity to purchase the pc you recommended which would have suited me fine. So I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of a similar pc rather than go to PC World and listen to their salesmen trying to sell me something I don't need at inflated prices.
Thanks in anticipation.0 -

Hi Nifty, hope you enjoyed your trip! As per the previous posts I still haven't gotten around to purchasing a PC yet so any advice would be grateful as I'd rather get advice from someone in the know rather than a salesman on commission to sell me the most expensive. Sorry to be a pain but it's a decision I would like to get right first time.0 -
Not sure if this is much use but a relative of mine wanted an all in one. I steered him away and made him a mini itx system in an Antec VESA mount case and hung it on the back of his monitor for him. Nice solution and all the components can be upgraded or replaced. There must be similar solutions available commercially?0

Off travelling in a couple of days..so a bit busy.
If HP weren't so awful, I would recommend this on spec for £250.0 -
I wouldn't make or buy a Windows PC at the moment. Windows 7 is preferable to Windows 8 but if you have Windows 8 you may be able to upgrade to 10 for free. Will you be able to upgrade from 7 to 10 for free? I won't do anything until it's sorted out.0

That seems a cracking deal for the price and it seems to suit my needs, I would order that tomorrow but when you say HP are awful you've got me confused. So is it a thumbs up or down?0
