Look,I know some of you don't like conflict but here's the conversation...
"Shut up and stop bragging about your fare dodging, especially as the rest of us are subsidising you,you are are a thieving scrounger,if you don't shut up I will report you myself,if you don't like that then tough.I can make your life much more unpleasant than you can make mine, you're not my friend,I don't need to talk to you and you aren't going to find many supporters round here so SHUT UP" .....the end

And @ musickurt,it's not about not having anything to do with your life,it's about slapping the immoral ,thieving individuals.
Just out of curiosity where do you draw the line, would you personally bother if an old lady got her bag snatched,or you saw someone getting beaten up, or someone threw litter out of their car,or fly tipping a sofa,...where do YOU draw the line ,or are you one of those who thinks none of this is your bussiness,I am one of those annoying sods who doesn't mind in the slightest getting my hands dirty at any level.where are you in this ?

Wow, what a morally bereft society we appear to have become. I'm no doubt putting myself in the firing line for a lot of abuse but it saddens me to read this thread and see the volume of "do nothing", "karma will get him", "it's OK to steal from the big guys" type responses.

OK, sermon over, I'm taking cover, fire away. :)

    Good post.

TL;DR: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that the good men do nothing."

Why not focus your great moral crusade on something that will make a difference, a child dying every hour in Gaza is evil, fare dodging is not. And anyone who thinks that eliminating fare dodging will bring down prices are naive, the rail companies charge the maximum that they think the market will bear, not the cost of the journey plus a bit of profit.

Haven't you got anything better to do than interfere in other peoples lives?

The fare dodger is interfering in other peoples lives by not paying his ticket and then bragging about it.

Your argument is commonly used by dishonest people who know that if their lives are put under scrutiny then it will reveal all manner of bad things.

All that is being suggested is to help someone do their job of catching fare dodgers.

If you do the crime then you got to be prepared to do the time.

omg! I can't believe this. I always pay for my train tickets but they are a complete rip-off. If he has the balls to fare-dodge then good on him, just because you don't doesn't mean you should report him. I mean, seriously? Get a grip.

People say "he will be caught" but how long have you seen your friend dodge his fare?
If it's been months, it's unlikely he will ever be caught.

Calling the Customer Relations department may or may not do anything. However if you give them specific times, it may go some way to helping.

What you really need, is a line with ticket barriers.

If you reported him I think I would think less of you than him. Avoiding paying for a train ticket is something I would never do but if people want to take that risk then be it on their heads. I really don't understand why you are annoyed? It doesn't bother me when I see it happen, it's almost like you're jealous you don't do it yourself

Seriously? Are you for real? This is not a victimless crime and fare-dodging puts up fares for the rest of us.

You would think less of someone who REPORTED a crime than the person who COMMITTED the crime?

    I'm appalled!

I'm with those who go for the reporting him - a percentage of your fare that you pay honestly goes to making up what the train companies lose through fare dodging.

Try substuting 'fare dodging' with 'benefits fraud' or 'driving away without paying for petrol' and then decide how you feel about those
