I've managed to find a parking space to move the car into that is in the shade on hot days.

This made me laugh because there are 3 car parking spaces in the work car park that are always in the shade and I feel ridiculously happy if I can get the car in one before anyone else does!!

Thought I was going to have a full blown panic attack today rushing from work to get DS2 then rushing to his hospital appointment. Struggling a bit with the anxiety at the moment. It will pass I hope, I really dont want to go to the doctors and have them put me on medication. Need to keep up the exercise and dig out the relaxation cd.

Must get some paperwork done this weekend for my voluntary job so I can hand it over to the new recruit. Going to be in bed soon.

Frizzle, homes are for living in. In ten years' time you will still have a house to clean but your kids will (hopefully) be spending less time in it. Better to concentrate on the essentials for now and spend quality time with your kids. Help them to learn to pick up their things and put them away. If they have friends round, insist that the friends help too, and tell your children you'd expect them to do the same in someone else's house. Also get them working with you on their own romms, and give them a list of (say) 3 little jobs to do each day "so that Mummy can have a happy holiday too" - 5 minutes' work for them means 5 minutes' less for you.

I used to do a 60-second countdown before meals: toys left out = no pudding. It worked wonders! (If they're close to finishing, you can always slow down as you get to 5-4-3-2-1, to allow them to "win"!)

Can you keep one room free of toys and tell the children that it's the chill-out room, only to be used for reading and TV? Then you'd have somewhere nice to invite any visitors into, and for you to enjoy.

Have fun in the holidays and r-e-l-a-x :)

Thanks ionafan. Really great to have someone else tell me what I already know. Rather following the fly list. I am going to focus on the surface damage jobs, rather than the deep clean jobs so I can do the bare minimal and spend more time with the kids! Who cares whether the fridge isn't spotless. But having the hallway tidy is a bit more important as it gets seen all the time! Spoke to my eldest tonight, who to be honest does help when I ask him too (he is 5). My two year old is a bit more difficult! He is in to everything. My husbands answer is to not leave him unattended, which is impossible. I went to make lunch today and when I found him, he had got his hands on some washing powder, filled the cat bowls up, and taken some into the downstairs bathroom, leaving a trail behind him! He is like a little whirlwind! I guess it will get a little easier when he is older!

    Morning!

Another hot day following an unbearable night! Why does everyone shout loudly at taxi drivers when they come back drunkenly from the pub?

Up reasonably early and the aim is to do a tripple HHC of the GARAGE!!! DH is on board with this as it is his domain. We are going to see how much we can get done before the bank appt this morning at 10 now - great so we'll be able to watch the Grand Prix qualifying!

Then this afternoon I will probably do some more paperwork sorting - DH is going to show me how to scan using the new printer. COuld be good as should then be able to clear lots of stuff that I haven't been able to throw away for sentimental or other reasons.

Have a great day everyone and belated birthday congrats to Fizz.

ETA - just did double HHC in GARAGE - OMG doesn't even cut it!!!!!!!!!! Lots to go to tip - bin is full and loads needs cleaning for donation to CS - or wherever. Still at least a double HHC or quadruple to go and need to find where the mice are living and evict and then sort the logs so they are not near where the wall is wet. Work in progress but at least you can get in there now!!!!!

    Afternoon all :D

DD is out, the penultimate wash load is in, and I'm finishing off the DIY list. Just rejigging a few things on it as plans have changed but getting there slowly. There's been lots of sitting watching videos to double check that what I think needs to be done is the right thing, and that I have in theory got the right product as well :rotfl: I will get this list done today since I am mainly uninterrupted doing it for a change ;) Back to find the wallpaper calculator

This is the sort of pun we make all the time in our house, immediately followed by lots of elbow nudges and "d'you see what I did there?!".

I am at cricket. I am bored. The bench is hard and my bum is numb. If I hadn't had ~lots of cider I would drive myself home.

Also, the "Ladies" have clearly been frequented my men and they are just disgusting. Next time I will take my chances and pee in the bushes.

Eta: I have used the loo brush, some toilet roll and the second to last dose of antibacterial handwash to S&S the loos. It's like chucking a deck chair off the Titanic in terms of cleanliness but without my arsenal it's the best I can do. Once a Flylady…
