had a bit of a panic last night back from hospital visit and having salad in the garden i took a couple of fresh leaves down to tortoise who was NOT in his run where id left him! rushed in house incase the boys had put him away no that was empty. after searching the garden for an hour told the neighbour as there are a couple of gaps under the wire fence he could have squeezed, she had a look and finally found him right over the other side of her garden in the gap between their other side fence and their pond. hugely thankful he didnt decide to fall in that!!!! need to cabel tie all joins on his run as little bug managed to push to apart to back his escape
busy day today, decluttering roots and ends this morning, then need to nip round mils and refill the garden bags with the pile of cuttings etc that wouldnt fit. then got to help sort and pack DS2 camping gear hes off to scout camp for a week and the weekend. hospital are still trying to level mils blood and get her warfirin (sp) levels correct, untill they do she cant come home but apart from that is medically fit. ive asked them to ring me when they do decide to discharge her as she needs a fridge restock.
must ring a freind to confirm we are taking her DS to and from scout camp - we both know were doing it but i dont know if she wants to come for the ride.
must ring water board theres been a leak at the end of our road for about a week now, it apparently has been reported but no harm in jogging there memories as nothing has been done yet.SPC~12 ot 124

I'm feeling a little frustrated at the moment. As I have been off work this week, I thought I would be on top of this and my house would be sorted. But I am struggling with spending quality time with the kids and flying. As soon as I get one room straight, t seems the kids decide to visit it and make it a mess again! I think I am going to have to just try to relax a little!Grocery challenge-

Frizzle, homes are for living in. In ten years' time you will still have a house to clean but your kids will (hopefully) be spending less time in it. Better to concentrate on the essentials for now and spend quality time with your kids. Help them to learn to pick up their things and put them away. If they have friends round, insist that the friends help too, and tell your children you'd expect them to do the same in someone else's house. Also get them working with you on their own romms, and give them a list of (say) 3 little jobs to do each day "so that Mummy can have a happy holiday too" - 5 minutes' work for them means 5 minutes' less for you.
I used to do a 60-second countdown before meals: toys left out = no pudding. It worked wonders! (If they're close to finishing, you can always slow down as you get to 5-4-3-2-1, to allow them to "win"!)
Can you keep one room free of toys and tell the children that it's the chill-out room, only to be used for reading and TV? Then you'd have somewhere nice to invite any visitors into, and for you to enjoy.
Have fun in the holidays and r-e-l-a-x0 -

Mine is the same but I have 9 trashing!.. do you feel better yet?
I just keep in mind that while they are getting out stuff it is at least clean under the stuff.. and before bed we have a 15 minute tidy up time and we all help put away the things that have been got out during the day.. it REALLY helps!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Morning all
Mummyroysof3 - Congrats :T:T
Fizz - Happy Birthday
Skinty - throwing sticks for your BD
Hugs, sticks, vibes and more suncream for all
Work yesterday wore me out so much I fell asleep on the sofa waiting for my phone to charge. Woke up at 4am with teleshopping on the TV :rotfl: I still have some stuff to do this morning but it won't take me long. I was woken up by a screaming child outside and the workmen over the road making a racket. I've left DD sleeping in the hopes she'll be in a more co-operative mood today. She is not going out today and she's been told that multiple times over the past couple of weeks so I'm expecting her to start sulking. If she does, I'll ground her as she went out yesterday afternoon after I got sick of the nagging while I was trying to work. That grounding will also include her not going anywhere with her grandparents and cousins on Sunday to see the Giants, so I expect she'll be willing to cooperate
My bed is stripped, I've just put the cleaning cloths in to wash as I forgot yesterday, DVD rental list sorted out and I have a Mr A delivery coming tonight 8-9pm.
Since the house hasn't really been cleaned properly in a couple of weeks due to work etc and we're having visitors this weekend its a mega clean day. I may just treat us to a take-away tonight if we can get everything done. I'm going to print 2 copies of the list out, one for DD and one for me, then there can't be any moaning from her that she doesn't know what to do nextThe ironing needs clearing but with every thing else if its gone it doesn't need doing in this house

Thank you Ionafan. Your comment about Mr Nifter reminded me to put his underblanket back in the WM. I did it with soapnuts after he went, but I'd intended to give it a biological wash after he'd left for good. It is now twirling. (And I think your version of getting kiddiewinks to tidy up before meal times is rather wonderful. In our family, the saying was 'I got it out, we both used it, you have to put it away.')
Happy birthday Fizz!
Scorching hot here today already, and I've managed to find a parking space to move the car into that isn't under a tree (bird pooh, by Gum those seagulls can squirt it out) but is in the shade on hot days. There's only one on this end of the Hoe and it was empty when I walked the dog, so I zoomed back to the house for the car keys. I need to go over to the chalet tomorrow for the turnaround, and that'll be at mid-day, so the car would have been like an oven if I hadn't moved it just now. The little things that please me ....
(((Hugs))) and sticks, Skinty. It's lovely when you post and always good to see you back. I hope today isn't too taxing and helps you develop some strategies for dealing with the mongrel BD.Better is good enough.0 -
