Recommend Parking and Hotel for Gatwick South?

Options
We are planning a flight from Gatwick and we live in the North of England so we will need a room and parking for 15 nights, I don't really know much about Gatwick so would appreciate some advice please...

I would highly recommend Premier Inn situated at the North Terminal (only a short mono rail hop to the South Terminal) especially if you can check in the night before. We are using it in August room and 15 days parking £109. There is also a new Hampton by Hilton Hotel at the South Terminal which would be cheaper than the regular Hilton hotel.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.

Thanks I use premier inn all the time for work I just couldn't see any reference to how to get to the south terminal from the one you mentioned. We will be driving down on the Sunday the day before as I know Monday mornings are horrendous when I drive to Heathrow and I am not a morning person... we could fly but it's restrictive on baggage and expensive...

We usually stay in one of the B&B places on Massetts Road, Horley - there's lots of them.

That way, we can dump our car and cases then take a walk into Horley and have a few drinks at Wetherspoons (Jack Fairman), something to eat then back for a sleep.
We find that nicer than being stuck in a chain hotel.

We've used Acorn Lodge, price includes English breakfast or their sister hotel - The Cambridge - on Bonehurst Road, it costs £3 in a taxi to Horley from there.

It might not be the cheapest way to do it but we just feel it's a nice start to our holiday.

I was going to suggest the same thing. We stayed here before flying last Christmas, very convenient, clean, quiet and great value :)

Yes, you really can't beat the Premier Inn North Terminal with the park & fly deals

    http://www.premierinn.com/en/parkAndFly.action?intcmp=DMC_HPST_SleepParkFly

Other options, such as B&Bs, may be cheaper but not as convenient especially if you have a very early flight. You just need to roll out of bed, walk across the road to the N terminal and then take the monorail to the S terminal.

One tip for the Premier Inn is that the lifts get very busy first thing in the morning so it can be quicker to use the stairs.

Is it right that this Premier Inn does not include parking on the night of your stay and you have to pay a discounted rate for the night of something like £19?.

Seems to say that on the link given and I did see a thread somewhere of someone complaining that they were caught out by this, though it does say it clearly on the site.
    Waddle you do eh?

A standard Premier Inn booking doesn't include parking but if you book through their "park and fly" package (see link in my previous post) then it includes a choice of parking durations in the valet parking in the car park next door.

Of course, you may find that you can book room only and the a separate off-site parking more cheaply but it won't be as convenient.

Another vote for premier in park and ride, you car will be waiting in the car park straight in front where you come out of departures , I could actually see mine as I can through the departures

Thanks for all the info folks as I said before Premier Inn is my hotel of choice for work travel and they are usually decent value, I was just a bit unsure of the proximity to the South terminal from the one that offers park and fly at the North terminal..

I think we will book the park and fly package save messing about on the day we fly, we are leaving on a noon flight but as it's a Monday and I regularly travel to Heathrow so I know it can be a 4 hour journey or a 6 hour journey depending on traffic I prefer to drive down on the Sunday.

If you are not flying to noon then you can have a nice lie-in and a leisurely breakfast. Much better than getting up early getting stressed on the M25.

For the Sunday evening, the restaurant in the Pemier Inn is OK (if you are a regular user then you will know the menu) but if you want something a little better then the Sofitel next door has a good restaurant as long as you are prepared to pay airport hotel prices. Otherwise it's easy to pop into Horley or Crawley.

Also check whether your airline allows you to drop your cases the night before: http://www.gatwickairport.com/at-the-airport/flying-out/check-in/day-before-check-in/
