I remember a few weeks ago at a supermarket checkout, they changed the cashier as the first one was going home.

The man in front of me was sighing loudly. It only took an extra ten seconds. He was moaning about waiting.

I am sure if he was in the cashier that was going home, he would moan if no-one took him over or a supervisor closed the till.

I've got to admit if I come across things like that I'll stick up for the staff and say something. It's funny how some people will speak to staff how they like because the staff can't answer back but if I say something as another customer they just go silent (often just stair which I'll stair back and I'm fairly big and muscular so often they soon drop the staring idea!), it's like they can only have a go at people who can't answer back. As soon as the situations turned round on them they shut up.
  • Thanks to all the lovely friendly staff that I see when shopping-that is most of you.Sometimes someone will have an off day or an ill relative to worry about(etc).I went to a T store in London-only self service tills and a Q that wound halfway back around the store!people working at tills are so much nicer.

I hate the phrase ' the customer is always right '. I hear this when customers are arguing with myself when I was in my call centre days or shop staff when the customer is in the wrong. The latest example I heard from a friend was a customer trying to use a coupon which was two months out of date.

In my call centre days, I had a customer that wanted to change his DD date to the last day of the month. I explained he could only have 1st to 28th inclusive. He had none of it. He wanted the 31st, but I explained that there are five months which don't have 31 days. I said to him what dates do your other DD are taken out. He said 1st and 2nd. Then shouted my hated phrase then ended the call.

Me too- My customer service stats are always very high so it tends to balance it out but I still get moaned at by management for taking too much time and trouble with customers ;)

My husband has had this. He was at 97% rating for his customer service, his call handling time was literally over by an average of 10 seconds and he got frog marched into the office and given a rollocking. Really incredible!

I was in a large store once and with a long queue built up, the supervisor took the cashier off for a break without replacing them, so we all had to join existing long queues, I made a comment like "wonderful",the supervisor then attempted to lecture me and even questioned me about wearing an earring!

I remember being in a fast service 'basket only' limited number of items queue.
The lady being served had a trolley - with many items, the lady in front of me - with a basket - made a comment to the girl on the till.
The lady - no correction - female being served took offence and threatened to wait for outside to give her a 'hiding'!!
Everyone one else is just gobsmacked.
But she goes, and it gets back to normal!!

This is me to a t!
I was in the hairdressers and the lady was going mad and being so rude to the girl and then accused her of being racist - I then jumped in and said she is not racist to Italians I am one and I am here having my hair done and then another little old lady also Italian jumped in. She was so rude that after that she then left with her head down because people had stood up to her!

I am all for sticking up for the person who needs to be stuck up for.

The thing that gets me with some customers. They say they don't like to be discriminated against because of a disability.

However the first thing they will do when they make a complaint is say they are disabled.

    Then there's the 'Doh' moments:

"Can I have your card number please"
    "Oh, I didn't think you'd need that" !!

"Can I have your card number please"
"is the last four numbers alright?" - not really there's 18 in total.

"Can I have you card number please"
"634004, oh you want the rest do you?" !!
Of course that only tells me it's a UK one!
