It's actually a relief to be back!

Living in Scotland, the kids went back to school last week. I had to buy new uniforms, shoes, bags etc, but on a positive (financial) note, my daughter has decided she wants to come off school lunches and have sandwiches instead. I'd been determined not to make her do this, but as she's done it of her own accord I'll be saving getting on for £50 per month, woohoo!

I'll have to pay for sandwich stuff, but that's a maximum of £20 per month.

I'm doing Slimming World, which is a few ££ per week, but the physical/mental health benefits are worth it. It's also a chance to go out once a week and meet actual humanpeople! I have to take my daughter with me, but she just brings toys/colouring things and loves it.

I'm exercising, but mostly running/cycling (free) or taking the kids swimming (which counts as a leisure activity and is therefore budgeted for!). It's my son's birthday in about 3 weeks and he wants an iPhone 5 :rotfl: but I've managed to get him a refurbished iPhone 4s for a decent price. He'll have broken it before you can say '"please don't accidentally stand on it this time" anyway. :o

How are you all? It's sooo nice to see you again!

Ooh, I've also started saving £2 coins.

So far, the grand total is...£2.

Got to start somewhere, right? Spending £1 on a saving tin was...ok, it wasn't my *best* idea, let's face it, but it was that or use an old cardboard box, and the saving tin has cute puppies.

I have yet to decide what I am saving up for. Suggestions? :)

    I like the *idea* of a spa day, but I'm worried I'd just be a bit...bored. :o

Although I've never tried it, so maybe I'd love it!

Hopefully it will become clear what I'm saving for when I start to have some actual savings. :D

It was payday a couple of days ago, so I've shopped, filled my car up with petrol, and other than my car tax, have paid the things I need to. I can't find my car tax letter, OR my MOT certificate. I know I have them somewhere, but I have done all my filing (so I thought) and it hasn't turned up.

Does anyone remember BunnyInTheLights? I'm meeting her for lunch tomorrow, as she's in Edinburgh on holiday with her family. She seems really happy. :T

Annoyingly, someone has made an offer on the house I've been eyeing up. I'm not ready to buy yet, but how RUDE! It was supposed to sit on the market and stagnate, so I could snap it up for a bargain price in the new year. Huff! :rotfl:

My childminder was off last week, so I had a week with no childcare fees. She's also off on Friday, so this week is cheaper than usual too. :j

I need to start putting some figures down in writing, I know. I've been so busy/stressed/tired that I haven't even updated my spreadsheet yet since starting my full-time hours. :o

That's going to be a job for the weekend, I think. Until then, I will be trying to have as many NSDs as possible!

Unless I find my car tax letter. :o

  • Hi Snagggles!! :j Long time no see... I can't believe how old your children are!! Which is a bit silly as we were on the pregnancy thread together for a bit and my eldest is nearly 7 :o how did that happen? And my little surprise baby is going to four soon

I'm back to MSE after slacking off for a [STRIKE]few years[/STRIKE] little while and delighted to see your name as well as others, please say Hi to Bunny for me :)

Sounds like you are doing really well - sorry to hear that things have not been so easy for you lately but as I read a bit of your diary I was impressed by the way you always have a handle on things, confront them head on and just get on with it really :T

Hope you have a lovely time today x

    Oh and yeah definitely shoes!!!
