    Hello Missko!

Did you stay in London, or move back to Edinburgh?

I'm glad you posted, because even though I hate the thought of anyone going through what I did, obviously you're an intelligent person as you're a solicitor, and it does go to show that *anybody* can end up in that situation.

    I hope you're ok. xx

Zed, I don't hear 'Ye Ken?' a lot here, but I had a client from a different area (Tayside) who said it every other sentence, and for the first couple of appointments, I really did wonder why he kept calling me Ken. :)

Shirley you can't be serious... ;)

Yes, very geographically restricted unfortunately, but I live in one of the more affordable areas anyway, so buying a 3-bed within my budget would only be possible if I moved somewhere a bit...rough. :o:o

Affordable? At £800 pcm? I take it this house has 5 bedrooms?

No, 3. :o It's very nice, but at the cheaper end of the scale, frighteningly.

To buy a 3-bed would be about £150k :( which is not affordable at the moment. To buy the house I'm living in now would be more like £250k. Prices are just crazy. :(

  • Snags What kind of deposit would you need (or me!) for a 250k house?

I still toy with the idea of buying some where up north and renting it out.

but really I need somewhere to live! so a garage in London might just be manageable!

God, I do hate sociopaths. Dated one of those for 8 months. Complete fantasist.

Yeah I'm trying to stay away from men for while too. I honestly thought I had a real gem this time around. I went for him because he was not my typical alpha male and was kind. How wrong was I. Complete !!!!!!

My ex from uni been messaging me tonight saying "you were like my crazy little barbie doll and I loved it" - cheered me up a bit!

They are round there. Round here, a pervasive sense of realism is starting to seep in. Never mind - ripe for a crash in some places (again)...

There are some 95% mortgages available these days but a lot more choice with a 10% deposit, or ideally more. 40% deposit opens up the very best deals, but that's not going to happen for me! :)

I'll have about a 20% deposit, with the money I eventually got back from arsefeatures, and the savings I have (although the !!!!!!! let me tie the majority up in a 3-year bond, when he already knew he didn't want to be with me).

So I can't touch it without a huge penalty, but it means I'm not eligible for any means-tested benefits.

    Nice work, knobwomble, nice work.
