OS Daily for Sat 14th July

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Fri 13th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Bonjour mes amies!!!

First of all, I haven't managed to catch up on a month of dailies but massive hugs and respect to JackieO. You're amazing and I wish you all the luck in the world.

Hugs to JillD and have fun in my old stomping ground of Bangor co Down.

Welcome to the new addition Grannybroon

Sorry to hear about your DDs arm Elona. same thing happened to us exactly a year ago.

Well I been missing in action!! :o Apologies for starting the daily before I've been to bed but I can't sleep and I'm still in holiday mode. ;)

After my OH left the lap top out all night in the rain  I was offline and couldn't get a new one till yesterday so no doubt I've missed loads of news.

We had the most fabulous holiday in France and the kids had a ball. The site was amazing and in a beautiful area so we did lots of exploring and all the obligatory sampling of the local food and wine. ;)

Pink-Winged visited us for a very boozy night and we went to spend 2 days with her on our way home. She forced me to drink far too much and I think it may be some time before I drink again. She was last seen bounding from her caravan in a tangarine bikini cos someone mentioned that the weather was picking up. :D
She made me promise to tell you that she cleaned my caravan from top to bottom with her stardrops though.

The one really horrible thing on holiday happened to my dnephew (7) who leapfrogged over a bollard in the village market and broke his arm. As he is prone to claiming every time he falls over that his arm is broken, Pink was unconcerned until she realised it was a funny shape and one of his bones was sticking out through his skin. God love them all but they had a nightmare getting him to hospital were he was operated on immediately and his arm and the 2 broken bones had big metal pins inserted to straighten them. He was unbelievably brave (as was his Pink) and he is recovering well. Unfortunately his arm has limited the fun he can have on holiday but they all seemed to be enjoying themselves when I left.

I'm home to a jungle that was formerly my garden and an even more enormous than usual ironing pile.

The only other drama was that some do gooder lifted our cat from outside the house while we were away and left her at the vets cos they thought she was a stray (despite her collar). So we spent the holiday thinking she'd been squashed until the vet put a poster up on our road and the neighbour who was feeding her realised where she was.

Sorry for the massive post. I''m off for some sleep and then will have a busy few days with OH and the kids.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Haribo x

Hi to AMIE and welcome back to HARIBO! Sounds like you had a busy month!
It rained in the night here after a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday; looks quite bright again now so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good day today.
I didn't get time to come back on here yesterday so I must have a quick read of the the rest of the thread in a mo.

I have the most massive pile of ironing to do and I am determined to get it done so that's what I'll be doing this morning; DH has requested AUSSIELASS'S Impossible Pie today - it was a triumph in the week and he wants me to make a bigger one this time! I'll also need to make some Weetabix Brownies - requested by DGS some cakes with pink icing on the top for DGD! Then I might do a mooch round Eastleigh which has some of the best charity shops in the area; I'm hoping to pick up some Jodi Picoult books because a lot of people have mentioned her and I haven't read any of her books yet - it'll be great to find another great author once I've read all the Anne Tyler books.

Well, off to have a shower - will drop in again later.

Hope everyone has a brilliant Saturday and lots of (((hugs))) for you all.

    Morning.
First off AMIE. The corn cobs wil be ready when the stringy stuff turns brown.
Well I did not sleep too well, drank too much last night I expect as had friends over.
Everyone is going different ways today. I am off to work at 1. OH is going to her sisters all day. 2 kids working at 9 and 11. So quite hectic..
Still raining, garden is a mess. All veggies look pathetic and bees are bored and not making any honey... Fishing is too windy or too rough...
    Some summer this is!

    Morning All
All excited this morning put my first two items on ebay on Thursday, two vents we have changed in the caravan, have a bid on one with 7 watchers and a question from NZ saying would I send to there pay by paypal, which I can provided they pay the postage of course, and 5 watchers on the other item. OH will be delighted to - more space in his garage. (He is a tidy freak and has to have everything neat and tidy and organised in his garage, and at the moment with me bringing 30 years back of things from work (2 small boxes), and him bringing all his tools (maintenance man) from work, and DS back from uni, he is not a happy bunny! Still miles tidier than most garages and the car still has to go in every night).

    Have a good weekend

:hello: Gooooood morning fellow OS'ers :D:D:D

((Get well soon hugs)) for elona's DD and Pinks DS. Neither of you mentioned which arms were affected but I hope it's not their dominant one - that can make things very difficult. Speedy recovery to both.

elona - your dh needs a wake-up-slap! Unless your weigh is causing (and not caused by) health issues, he has no right to be so catty :p

Jill - sorry to hear you will find your trip such a challenge, but well done to you for maintaining the relationship, despite her ways! Lots of deep breaths!!!

frizz - yes, I'm proud of you and your organisational skills :D:D:D Have a fab day today :T

AMIE - yuppers, I said yesterday I would watch some crud TV and BB fit the bill  My heart really went out to Chanelle last night, she looked so alone and that condescending male specimen didn't help either!!! He really does need taking down a peg or two, the way he speaks to her is appalling. :naughty: As for Charlie "I tell it how it is" ... she is such a bare faced liar!!!

Today's agenda is a clear up and clean up one - I'm going to put the MP3 on and time myself to beat the clock and call it "exercise" :rotfl:

I've got some chicken left over from Thursdays dinner that I'm going to put in the SC and make up some stock/chicken soup. I've got some major dental work being done next Friday for some inherited problems and I won't be able to cope with hard foods so I want to have some soups in the freezer just in case. Going to make a loaf and a cake in the BM - the beauty being they will take care of themselves without watching while I'm doing the necessaries :D

Bought a couple of sets of lolly moulds from Mr T's yesterday, £1 set. One blue set and one green so I can make squash based lollies in the green one's and dairy based lollies in the blue ones. Which reminds me, need to whip up a batch of yogurt in the EasiYo.

Later, I'm taking myself out and about to visit friends that I haven't seen for a little while, catch up on the news. :D

Not sure what the weather is doing, but it shouldn't hinder any of my plans so far - maybe the laundry drying but I've already decided that that will go on racks because I won't have the time to be running in and out the garden on the off chance it'll rain

mioliere - good luck with finding some Jodi Picoults :D She's nothing like Jean Auel, but she's equally un-put-down-able  If you get one, let us know which one/s you get. One of the beauties of my d13yo being as avid a reader as I am is, we've now reached a point were we can have book discussions. It's great :D

Have a super duper Saturday everyone - ((hugs)) for all, they're free today :D  :D

    Morning !
Donny-gal good luck with those ebay sales, it is exciting when you first list and get watchers/bidders, i remember sitting on pc all day checking if items had been bid up! A 1000 sales later im not so bad only check every few hours now!!!LOL.

Well its windy but dry here at the moment and im hoping it stays that way, today is our `sunday` as tommorow we have to football matchs one in morning the other in afternoon, so sunday roast for tea today and all jobs and washing ect to be done.
Thats if this SLIGHT hangover disappears soon. We had a fantastic night out, ds1 won supporters player of the year award and is thrilled, so dh first job today is to put another shelve up in his bedroom as this other 2 are now full of football awards!
My flip-flops i wore broke so spent the night walking around looking like i had a limp trying to keep it on my foot!! And my dd (4) impressed me so much, she was on dance floor most of night and i and dh was amazed how many of the songs she knew the dance moves for, she had the whole pub watching her at one point doing the cha cha slide!!

Right off for another very large coffee and a sit on the back door step for some fresh air, i will get rid of this hangover before the kids get up!!!

    Catch you all later

rain as usual, but managed to get into the garden yesterday after being at lidls, nice vine tomatoes for 49p and large iceberg lettuce 29p then had a walk in the wood with kyle, the rough road was very churned up with the amount of rain that had been pouring down it, no use for a buggy now
made some gooseberry jelly yesterday which is lovely, it has softly set, spreadable but still soft enough for yoghurt or over icecream
plan to make some bread and hobnobs today and probably clean out a cupboard, lots of tools etc which i wont use so the family can have them

Good morning, and please don't shout. Had a lovely evening, didn't drink much, but didn't get to bed until after 1am   Thanks to Lucie for the meal suggestion, which went down very well - will definitely be repeating it.

Hoping to get out into the garden today - we have a fence that we still haven't put up, and we're off on holiday for 2 weeks next Saturday.

I need to drink plenty today, and get an early night, as I'm *Racing for Life* tomorrow. Weather forecast isn't looking too good, but I don't mind running in the rain ;) Will need to take a change of clothes, as I've promised DD a hot chocolate in Castleford. DS has a football tournament, then we're off to some friends for supper, and a look at their new allotment.

Off to tidy up last night's debris, and tackle the ironing.

Haribo - great to see you back!

Amie - I have sweetcorn cobs, too, and several aubergines, but not sure when they'll be ready. Will toddle over th Greenfingered later.

Hugs to Elona and your DD.

Happy Birthday to Miss Frizz. Enjoy HP.

    Congrats to Master DLB :T

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Bore Da!
Determined to be more cheerful and less moany today!
Made a cushion cover for my friend yesterday - it has a beautiful beaded and embroidered pattern, like a huge feather, down one side and looks dramatic and expensive. It will take her about 5 minutes to realise that it is actually made from a skirt she is now too skinny to wear! I think it will cheer her up.

OM spent the morning with MiL and is now able to see the differences in her physical health, but is also very concerned about her behaviour. She goes home today and he has decided that he needs to see her more often so that he can spot any changes. Keeping in regular contact with BiL will help too.
Shall book flights via Quidco to keep the costs down!

We went to the big city to watch DD playing in an opera last night. The whole performance was excellent, the leading lady (under 26 years old!) particularly so, but we left at the interval as MiL was getting fidgetty and OM was starting to twitch. DD had suggested it very tactfully while we were having a pre-theatre dinner in the student's favourite pizza place.

Today I want to finish the first few little teddy bears - there was a pattern in Prima a few months back and i thought they might make nice stocking fillers. I could also turn some into lavender bags once the flowers are dried.

Well, have a great day and make the most of the good weather!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
