  • I've been there already and having read the threads for the past month or two about the experiences of others, it looks like the easy loopholes are being closed off one by one. I don't want to go to court and have to bear it's associated costs. I engaged these people in good faith to resolve things for me and have been let down. I now have absolutely no idea how far they have gone with the process on my behalf and now there's no way of contacting them to pick up the pieces. Options: 1. Do nothing and wait until the court summons arrives, or the debt collectors - whoever's first. 2. Just pay the reduced penalty and make it go away. I cannot see any other options right now, and am still angry about what PTA have done.

Then get yourself into the Newbies Sticky - All your other options are detailed there.

Why on earth would you want to pay even a "reduced" amount when all you actually owe them is nothing?

in that case complain to the BPA , newbies thread for details

To be charitable if smaroi hadn't been notified of the outcome of his/her POPLA appeal, there is a fair chance the PPC (and thus the associated DCA) hadn't been either.

You still have time to appeal to POPLA or the IAS by yourself. We can help with appeal wording. Contact the operator and the BPA/IPC to find out your POPLA code, explaining what happened.

Ask paypal to refund your transaction.

not really, the debt collectors should never have been involved while a popla appeal was ongoing, the fact that ptas were doing the appeal means they got the result , so maybe popla sent out the result to ptas and the ppc and ptas didnt pass it on ?

there are a lot of variables here, but my viewpoint is that the debt collectors should never be involved whilst any appeals are ongoing - period

I am sure this is written into the BPA CoP too

its simply bad practice and due to greed trying to win out over fairness
  • I have read the newbies bits until I'm blue in the face. I simply cannot see anything there which might mitigate the circumstances. The company has already rejected the initial appeal on all grounds. Since they belong to the IPC, the rejection of appeals seems to be a default setting for them. Does anyone know exactly what is happening with PTA? Have they gone for good?. Would anyone else take this on? It isn't that I don't wish to help myself, but I simply do not feel confident enough to follow this through myself. I am frightened that if I post details here, the parking people will see them and use the details against me. Don't know what to do next, other than just pay up and grimace

if you assume that this person in ren*sh*w is being investigated by the police and as that company appears to have ceased trading, I dont think its a good idea to discuss those matters on here, plus if that company has ceased trading (like many do), then I doubt you will get any redress and if you were able to register with any liquidator you would join a long line of creditors

in other words, in simple terms, accept they have ceased trading and move on (you may not like it but there is little you can do about it other than try for a refund if that was possible) - I would assume they have "gone for good" - YES

posts #8 and #12 on page 1 alluded to this

there are other companies that may help you (of a similar nature with similar names or initials) - so try the bmpa or cag or pepipoo or some other sites like parking prankster or parking cowboys that has their details (I dont but I know some of the forum regulars on here are involved)

posts #8 and #14 on page 1 told you this

dont post all your details on here either

if your appeal is to the IAS, you are probably wasting your time, plus these other companies may not get involved with the IAS as they know they are wasting their time too (I would be wasting my time appealing to the IAS)

popla is a different story, and well documented in the newbies thread

bear in mind that NEITHER of those 2 appeal bodies accept mitigation, so no point looking for mitigating circumstances in this, legal arguments are what win these cases

some on here say appeal to the IAS anyway, others say ignore , only you can decide

ps:- you never mentioned IGNORE in your options list, IGNORE is another option

and put in a claim by paypal, requesting a refund

The vast majority of these parasites never take anyone to court, so ignoring is usually still a viable option even after an appeal rejection by the IAS kangaroo court. You need to grow a pair, but most of all you need to start your own thread and tell us what bloody company it is.
