Because you NEED an aerial to watch tv if you have NO cable/ satellite dish Or is that also going to be classed as " miss information " ???? :mad:0 -

God there really are some ****** on here The set top box changed the receiving signal from the aerial From analogue to digital and as far as I'm aware you could change your arial to do the same thing
Incorrect on both parts, perhaps you could start a thread on a subject matter you know something aboutYou might not spread so much misinformation then.
This just shows that you belived the digital tv hype, just as you seem to be doing with the TVL hype now :-(0 -

You really shouldn't post any more.
Seriously.
You don't know what you are talking about so for your own sanity just stop.0 -

Unsurprisingly that info is incorrect too.
You don't need a cable/dish/aerial to be in a position to watch live TV and require a licence.
Wonder if you can figure out how?0 -
Kayak:
To settle things about this pointless aerial argument. There is NO real difference between the aerials you used to have before digital and the ones you get now. The majority or people would not have had to change their aerial when the switchover happened. Granted some people with very old equipment may have had to change but it wasnt a requirement that everybody had to get a new aerial. Also the aerial does not convert the signal. None of them do, you ALWAYS need a set top box or built in digital tuner.
There were a lot of scams at switchover time with companies telling (mostly vulnerable) people they needed a new aerial and charging lots of money to fit them. The reasons people MAY have needed to fit a new aerial are because the signal strength on digital is usually lower meaning older aerials may not have worked so well and a wider range of frequencies is used. Again older aerials may not be able to pick up all the channels.0 -

Changing the aerial would not allow you to receive digital broadcasts.
To receive digital broadcasts, you require digital receiving equipment, which an aerial is not.0
