Laura, read your diary. You have done so well and you're sticking to your guns - congratulations and well done!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a lovely weekend sweet :)

Thank you for taking the time to read through it, I appreciate all the support it really helps! :staradmin

Love your signature, do you feel a little more positive having broken what seems a scary amount down into more manageable goals? It seems to work easier for me... and the feeling of clearing that first small amount is amazing, and addictive!!!!
I am almost obsessed with saving and paying off money now... Not saying that's a bad thing.

Hi Laura, it sure is a relief but in a really weird way, this debt busting lark does provide a good focus and a buzz so I miss that (how weird does that sound!) and am trying to turn that same obsession in to savings now (but not getting carried away, like you I always need reminding to have a life and live for the day a bit too!)

Tell me - when you talk about making a small payment to your credit card, like even less than £1.. do you actually make the payment to it? Or just put the money to one side for it? I kept wondering this when seeing it on other threads too cos I always wanted to do this to ensure the money was going to the right place but wasn't sure if the credit card company would want so many tiny payments all the time? Am I being dumb? xx

Yeah literally you can pay off anything even literally 1p if you would like to, may be an odd way to do it but I feel then that it is gone from my account... all them small amounts add up pretty quickly. I am forever rounding my account down and sending the odd amount to credit card. I fear if I save it into an account to pay a lump off the debt it will never get there because I will find something else to use it for.

I can understand where your coming from, it becomes an exciting thing almost to keep paying the debt off and once its gone you don't have that same excitement. Focusing on savings is a good idea, I reckon it would be a nice feeling to see the amount building up?

    Update :)

My cheque cleared today so I have paid £25.25 to my credit card and £25.25 to my emergency fund!
Today is a NSD so I have had a good week for that this week :)

One week till payday and I really can't wait to pay some more off my tesco credit card... Once that is gone I can move on to my next debt :) I think it's working out well splitting funds between an emergency fund and my debt because then if anything happens I am not having to add to my debts any further :)

Have been reading lots of people diaries, and I've picked up loads of motivation to carry on and see this debt through to the end!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend xx

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
I have completely amazed myself this weekend!! I went to the OH's this weekend, we went to an outlet village on Saturday so clothes are quite a bit cheaper than in a normal shop.... I bought absolutely nothing except a cheap lunch at whetherspoons! I saw a lovely warm jacket in north face at £90, and a lovely Barbour jacket at £150, the old me would have bought both on credit card! The new me bought neither!

Today we went shopping again..... Normal shops this time and I was actually on the look out for jeans and jumpers I really needed both.... By I could not face buying a plain jumper for almost £20 and a pair of jeans for £22. So I left with nothing and instead bought a £8 pair of asda jeans! They are just as good!

I made a decision to pay off my phone contact .... Well an early early upgrade, I was so fed up with my I phone the battery is terrible and I use my phone for everything, it cost me £67 to pay it off which I took from my emergency fund, and my OH's mum is buying my iphone for £160. I am paying the £100 to credit card and putting the £60 back to my emergency fund. I get a new phone and the contract is £10 a month cheaper than what I have been paying! :) plus I saved 25% overall on what I would paying 3 more months of £47.

OH took me for a lovely meal last night, he is good to me! Plus it's payday Friday so can't make some more movement on this debt. I actually feel so excited to pay it off, feel like it is holding me back so much! :)

P.s I am almost certain I just had one of them false widow spiders removed from right near my bed!

How sad is it that I am so terrified of spiders that I have to get my mum to remove them still at the age of 25!

  • Oh Laura that made me laugh, I'm still petrified of spiders, I scream like a good un when I see one and OH has to rescue me lol!!

Sounds like you've had a brill weekend, and well done on the no spending - I'm really impressed, you are doing so well. I on the other hand had a very spendy weekend :0(

My OH treated me to a meal Saturday night, we went for a curry with some friends, it was lovely. We are lucky aren't we?

Have a good week, hope the spiders stay away x x x

Well done Laura on resisting the clothes -- amazing! Keep doing what you're doing and you will be debt free in no time.
PS: Don't worry about the spiders. I am a 27 year old guy and I still have to ask for help to get spiders/daddy long legs out of my room lol... Love.. Levi...x

Thanks Maryland Cookie & Levi! I feel so much better now, I was unsure if I was normal! I always used to find comfort in the fact that they couldn't hurt me.... but now it turns out these false ones can bite and possibly cause a reaction. Such a nightmare, they are sneaky too... literally come out of no where!!!

Anyway spider rant over!! I am pretty pleased with my weekend achievements, It took a lot of will power to resist spending any money on clothes!!! Feeling my will power has become generally stronger since I decided to start the stop smoking journey!!

    Hey Diary!!

I have been busy debt busting today!! I had a NSD so that is 1/1 so far for this week :) hoping for many more!!! Its payday Friday so I can make some more dents in my debts Yay......... Today my OH's mum paid me £160 for my Iphone so I have paid £100 to my Tesco credit card as planned, I needed to leave £25 in my bank account as I had an unexpected letter today from the gym saying I owed them a final month at £24.99 which sucks.... and then the remaining £35 has gone to my emergency fund. I am going to update my signature in a minute :)

:) Also my Florida saving fund for next March's holiday had £141 in it because I raided it to pay my mum off.... The odd £41 was bugging me so I have paid that to Tesco credit card too. I will still be able to save £600 in total by the time I go (I am putting in £100 per month) but hoping to get that to £1000 hopefully so I do not add to debts while out there. Feeling soooo good paying off these debts, cannot wait to get them gone! :):):)
