Better half of 2014 - all about me

Hey LG, thanks for your post - sorry to hear you have been poorly too but glad you're on the mend now - hope you have a fabulous new year!
I have been back to bed and have got up and showered - think I am feeling quite a bit better so hoping we can at least salvage something from today. Boy is due to finish around 3 and is coming home so we can decide what to do. I suspect it may just be a quiet curry.
Yes, into last month of employment - arghhhh! but have to embrace it and make the most of it. Need to get more of a plan together for when I'm off so that I don't simply sit on my a*se and watch daytime tv!
Hope everyone has a fab NYE and a great start to 2016 tomorrow (I keep forgetting tomorrow is a "new year"!)I want to be a writer0 -
happy new year peeps.
so, without meaning to sound negative (as i really want to have a positive 2016!) I didn't manage to make anything of NYE as was too poorly! We ended up getting a take out and watching a risk stein dvd! Mind you, meant a very cheap NYE!
NYD the boy's mum had a party which I had to miss as was too ill. Then we went away for weekend for friend's 40th (which he paid for apart from meals) and I enjoyed it but again, missed most of it due to being poorly!
I am now signed off sick from work for a week and going stir crazy! I felafel guilt at not being in work. Though it really isn't as if I have been enjoying my time off at xmas and partying - I haven't - once I got sick after boxing day I have pretty much been housebound (apart from the weekend which I couldn't miss).
Hoping they are not going to be mad at me when I go back. Am hoping to go back either tomorrow or Thursday rather than be off the whole week, even though I'm sure thats actually what I need. Thing is: I had a lot more time off sick than usual in the last 12 months - but I put that down to how hard they pushed me in 2014 - I just don't think I ever recovered.
Panicking slightly as was supposed to start my marathon training today but that is obv not going to happen.
Anyway - goals for 2016:
1. Train properly for and run the london marathon;
2. Eat healthily in preparation for the above (the boy and I have now given up booze until marathon is done, apart from when we are away skiing as that will be impossible) and also to make self feel better generally;
3. Finish or at least make significant headway into the children's books I'm writing;
4. Figure out what I want to do with my life career wise!;
5. Get back into horse-riding (luckily the boys cousin has a horse she a
says is mine to ride all week when I'm off!);
6. Cut out the people from my life who are not loyal to me, make me feel guilty when I shouldn't or who are toxic and instead, surround self with people who are good for my well being;
7. Try to be kinder to my parents and spend more time with them (you know what it's like, we all love them but they drive us mad at times!);
8. Stay in touch with my brother more;
9. Try not to nag the boy so much and ditch my (not too often thankfully) insecurities;
10. Try to relax more and not be as controlling/let stresses get to me as much!I want to be a writer0 -
still poorly and off sick! Though hoping to go in tomorrow. I always make the mistake of going back before I'm ready and setting myself back so this time, am trying to get it right.
Very frustrated at being unable to start marathon training - hoping I can start at the weekend. Saw a woman on Lorraine yesterday morning who had lost a leg yet had completed various races and was now training for a triathlon. AMAZING. Going to try and take some inspiration from her and every time it gets hard/I p1ss and moan I can't do it, think of someone who is less physically able than me and do it for them.
On that note, healthy eating going really well and the boy and I have stuck to it (albeit it has only been 3 days!). But we are both sleeping really well so I think there must be something in it.
The healthy eating is hurting us MSE wise though so I must try to sort meal plans which are a bit easier on the pocket!I want to be a writer0 -
Sorry you're still not well, I hope a few days rest will see you right, I would stay off tomorrow as well then hopefully by Monday you will be ready to go back.
Well done on the healthy eating and good luck with marathon training once you're back on your feet!Santander 0% £1,529.94

thanks LG. Have decided not to go in today. Am almost better but still not 100% and if I go back to what is likely to be stress, it may knock me back. So, going to stay off today and rest and go back all guns blazing monday.
Speaking of monday, have an interview for that other job with the chap I have been speaking to plus 2 others from his firm (different offices). Not sure what they are going to offer yet in terms of role and would have to be the right balance for me (and hopefully only 3-4 days per week) so will see.
We have still stuck to healthy eating apart from fact I had 1 biscuit yesterday. However, I had to because I had the worse headache ever and I had really bad headaches last time I came off sugar so thought it was probably that. But 1 biscuit in 4 days is fine.
Tonight we have treat night (we are having a treat night once a week as otherwise we will not stick to it) and it's slow cooker beef massaman curry with jasmine rice. Then we might have a little ice cream and meringue. But back on healthy eating tomorrow. Tomorrow is an omelette made with chilli cheese and red onion and salad for lunch then sea bass with chilli lime and ginger with brown rice for tea.I want to be a writer0 -
well, back into work today. Really really don't want to go in but 12.5 more working days then I'm done. Just dreading what is waiting for me, especially as have not checked my emails in over 2 weeks.
This weekend was good. Was finally feeling a bit better by saturday morning so went for a ride with one of the boy's cousins on her horses - was lovely but i am soon sore now!!!
Then we did shop which wasn't cheap as we are healthy eating but wasn't took bad I suppose. We bought some (cheap) little boxes with different compartments in for snacks so they boy has gone off to work today with a healthy snack box and I am doing the same.
Sat afternoon I had a sleep as was pretty exhausted as still not 100% then we had delicious sea bass with chilli lime and ginger, home made sweet potato wedges and asparagus!
Yesterday was a really lazy morning of drinking tea and reading the paper. Then we went to the boys mums for a healthy lunch. I even said no to cake! Yesterday afternoon I went for a cuppa at my best mate's house and the boy decided to go out and take some photographs. Then I made a really healthy chicken risotto and mushroom soup and we watched phantom menace as the boy has never seen star wars and his best mate persuaded him to borrow the dvds. I read my book and we had an early night.
We both wanted some chocolate so I got us a strip each and broke it up into bits and we had a little pot each - much better than putting the bar in front of us as then we only ate what we had in the pot.
All in all a really nice weekend.
Have got interview today and tea is salmon with worcestershire sauce and spring onions and brown rice.
Am just hoping work isn't horrid - cannot wait to finish now! 4 day week this week as have friday off as holiday as we are off to see my parentsI want to be a writer0 -
work wasn't too bad but then the powers that be were not in - they are back today though - will just have to keep head down and get through it.
Interview went well I think though I hate interviews. It would be a pan-jurisdiction role and possibly only 4 days a week! I may never have to work a monday again!!! The guy in my jurisdiction is pushing for me I think as I know him having been opposite him on things before so fingers crossed. It sounds like a great opportunity and hopefully not tooooooo stressful. I can never tell if I interview well as I feel like I'm babbling!
Tonight I have to run for first training run towards marathon. Still coughing up stuff but will just have to take it easy as I need to start. We have no hot water or heating until friday as my boiler is leaking (weirdly the same problem as 4 years ago and glad I noticed it as last time I ended up having to have all the floors taken up and renovations done and claim on the insurance!) and part won't arrive until then. Luckily the boys tenants moved out of his flat end of Dec (5 min walk from here) so we can go there for showers though am having a busman's wash this morning as can't be bothered to trek there and will be going there for shower/hairwash after run tonight!
MSE won't be great today as we need a few things from b**ts but some will be split between us and we are taking lunch into work and meals from stores tonight.
Weekend has potential to be expensive as we are out for lunch all 3 days and dinner 1 night so we will have to pick up some of that. Plus buying my parents some xmas presents as this is our xmas with them.I want to be a writer0 -
Heya Lulabelle
Got everything crossed for you on the interview front - have you heard anything back from them yet?
Not long left at work now for you I hope you last couple of weeks go well and they aren't being too hard on you!
So please to read you went riding, have you got the bug again? I am literally loving where I go at the moment after our jumping lesson on Saturday we rode them around the block to cool them off and I was in heaven!
Are you properly better now i hope?!

thanks LG and hi peeps.
Heard back, they were seeing someone else friday and said they would be in a position to let me know how they want to proceed this week. Not heard anything yet. Am trying to look at it as "what will be will be" and if I don't get it, figure it is another sign that maybe it is time to leave the profession entirely.
Weekend went well, spent a fair whack but that was always inevitable really. Managed to hurt myself on a ski lesson and now have whiplash and a head injury to add to my list of complaints!! Still coughing up stuff and now on a steroid nosespray!
Training going ok - was supposed to do long run sunday but couldn't as was away and busy that day. Did it last night and felt good though I had to hide in some bushes on a main road for a wee as had another 30 mins to go and desperate with no loo around! Was supposed to run again tonight but house was such a tip I just wanted to do that and have some quiet time (boy is out until 8) so will get up early and do it tomorrow.
Still no heating or hot water - part has not yet arrived! Am chasing it up tomorrow as it's so cold and it really is a pain having to go to boy's flat for showers all the time then walk back with wet hair.
I think I do have the riding bug again though until I'm properly into running further I am going to wait to ride again as I find it hurts my legs too much!!
6.5 working days to go. !!!! - this having no job has become rather real!I want to be a writer0 -
I haven't been around much but 6.5 days is fantastic!
hope you feel better soon (I suspect in 6.5 days myself!)
