Why are CTWs appearing on the main board - ARRGGGHH!

please don't you start bringing me into your arguments toniq,
I wasn't the root of the issue,
the root of the issue was CTW's were being posted on the board, some a few weeks ago/months ago & then yesterday,
it was replied on again that they were already in regs & I replied the same with the link to dailies mags CTW comps,
if you read the threads properly you'll see that & that a couple had agreed to them being posted with a certain format for them,
as the CTW's had already been posted & i'd replied
it was looking at that time some wanted them posted & some didn't,
i also asked if a new poll should/could be posted to see what members thought & if the census had changed from the last debate over them where members had said they didn't want them posted,
as the debate wasn't getting anywhere except the same replies about they're already in regs/etc & some wanted them posted i went ahead & posted a few of them to see if other peeps would be interested in having them on main,
which was trying to help the ones who wanted them posted,
the resounding ending from the threads created after i'd posted them/posts made after/comments after was NO,
they don't want them posted on main which was what i'd posted in the first place.
eta..
the mag dailies & the CTW's are 2 different things
referring to the sentence I've bolded above
maybe all this could have been avoided if you'd explained what you were doing first
ie you were just posting 'a few of them to see if other peeps would be interested in having them on main'
it appeared to me (and obviously everyone else) that you were making a start on posting them all
anyway hindsight is a marvelous thingbut now the poll is showing that the vast majority don't want them on the main board maybe we can just get back to how we were
I've also noticed someone saying that some CTWs are not obvious until you are entering the comp so there are always going to be a few posted on the main board inadvertentlyI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Thanks Glad :T :A
Just to say that there is no problem with the odd one appearing and people being kindly re-directed to the dailies thread where they live...I think this also works as a helpful reminder now and again to everyone who peruse the main board about the click to wins, and also to newbies who might not have come across them yet, that they are available if people have the time/patience/desire to enter them!=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
Exactly this. I'm having trouble believing that anyone with enough wits to enter competitions correctly is too stupid to realise the wisdom of the above.
That's a bit harsh. Doesn't sound like stupidity to me, sounds more like a case of trying to please some forum members and causing WW3 amongst various other forum members in the process! :rotfl: As Glad hinted earlier, communication can often be the key to success.Biker*Chick wrote: »Thanks Roger
FWIW - the thread wasn't embarassing, but the totally unnecessary comments made further down the thread were indeed embarassing ...I don't think anything needs to be debated further on this thread as all responses can be logged with a simple 'yes' or 'no' here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5015979
I thought that you asked a perfectly reasonable and sensible question, which was phrased diplomatically, and I was just a little surprised by the ferocity of a few of the responses
At least the posts from the main smurf/troll have now been removed from this thread, and people seem to have stopped posting CTWs on the main board.
Job done!
(Let me know when we're going to have a poll in order to save Cornish Pasty the effort of posting all those mag dailies on the main board.)*goes and hides under the kitchen worktop*
Thanks to all who post constructively.

I am not voting on the pole, because I’m genuinely undecided. There are pros and cons for posting the ctws on the main board.
Pros: Newbies would be far more likely to know about them. ‘Oldbies’ would be reminded about them. I’m sure this would inspire some to enter for things that they otherwise would not have found.
Cons: The only genuine con, in my opinion, concerns the mammoth task of posting them. Has it ever been considered to post once, each time a new prize is offered, with a link to the ctw thread? This would let members know that a new goodie is available, and where to look to find out more.
I hate when people talk about comps ‘clogging up the board’. It’s like fishing for mackerel and then complaining that the sea is clogged up with dabs, or the other way round. Usually when people say this, they’re moaning about comps being posted that they personally don’t want to enter. We all trawl through tons of these. That’s the name of the game.
If the search facility had an exclude feature, it would stop us all hooking the wrong fish.

I agree - whatever decision is made there are always going to be seagulls that are happy and seagulls that are not - as not all seagulls enjoy the same 'fishies':TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
No such thing as a seagull blue
Oh and i have a vacancy in the baying mob, going on previous comments.0 -
I thought the click to wins were pretty much like the instant wins - a bit scammy with silly odds - that's why I skip them.
Have there been many winners of the bigger prizes at all? I remember when there were under 10 sites, now there are lots!! eepWishing you all good luck!
