Been digging more of my vegetable patch until it poured with rain - have just come in and will go back out later.
Tidied up and cleaned the kitchen surfaces.
I will make a chicken pie later for tea.
    Plan to have a NSD

Took my 2 vouchers to Mr M and have enough meat for a good few weeks. Spent ages deciding what was best value so bought a chicken, lamb mince, huge piece of pork and 2 luxury chefs steaks ( as recommended by Jamie Oliver).A los got sugar for my jam making so not too bad a spend.

If we havent got it in now we wont have it.

    Good morning,

DH is back, and that's a joy. But he opened his post and found a car penalty, an eye watering £65 for driving in the bus lane, coming back from picking up the kids at the airport. Ah well, it can happen to anybody, he was tired and it was late at night, he got distracted. I paid it straight away to avoid it doubling up. Daylight robbery. Or I should say nighttime robbery, I thought that bus lanes are ok for cars at night.

Today is going to be a spend day because DH and I are going out, probably to a local farmers market to get a few bits and pieces. We will have some lunch there at one of the stalls. Then it is allotment time, the late late runner beans need transplanting to the box with the canes and some need to be brought to the front garden, where the earlier beans have already finished producing.

Am soooooo sleepy. Skipped bootcamp because of wanting to keep DH company, today is a rare Saturday that neither of us has morning commitments, but honestly I could just turn over and go to sleep. Early night tonight. Maybe fish and chips for dinner (the fiver special) but only if we don't spend much at the farmers market. Will set a budget and try to stick to it.

    Have a good weekend.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Gosh, my OS principles went out the window this weekend!! Had a very spendy Friday, annoyed that we split the bill and i had to pay for other peoples drinks when I was tee total.

Finally got a new duvet and pillows so bed has been changed around today and our bedroom is finally finished!! After long last! OH hung up all the pictures today and I got to do a bit of gardening! House is looking a lot more like our home now! I feel it always takes a month or two..

We've no idea what to do with our spare room. Ideally we'd love to keep it as empty as possible as it will (eventually!!) become a nursery in two years time! So for now it's just the dump room! I will figure something out!

Tried selling some kids books online as I have them left over from tutoring. I really don't want to sell them separately as I paid quite a lot for them and I just want to see them go!

Hi caterina, reading and subscribing cos deffo need to get back to os ways. Like you I have had a change in fortune and had become a bit silly with my money. I managed to get out of debt and have said never again. I need to behave myself otherwise I can see this happening. I have full cupboards, fridge and freezer but still go shopping for food. I buy silly stuff like plants for the garden that don't need anymore flowers and more clothes that I don't need. So enough is enough. Just cancelled gym membership to gym I don't use and in the morning going to go through bank account to see where I am. Keep up the good work and I think you have struck accord with many of us who have become DF that we still need to stick to the OS ways.xx

I thought bus lanes were ok to use during the night as well. I'm pretty sure that round here you can use them after a certain time.

We got back off holiday to find a huge crack in the inside pane of our double glazed sitting room window  No idea how that's happened but it's such a huge window and will cost a fortune to fix :(

Friday was a very productive day - I gardened, cleaned the kitchen, made chicken pie and chicken soup with the remains of the roast chicken. Also made apple and blackberry pie with left over pastry and fruit from freezer.
    It was a NSD.
Yesterday started well with hoovering, hanging washing on line, some ironing and then went to watch rugby - for free and then went shopping with DH. Wasn't too bad - my only purchase was a butter dish which I needed and a coffee but we did sit and had a good chat while drinking it.

Are you putting in any plants/seeds for winter veg?:)

I seem to be doing pretty well on NSD. Have got to get a towel rail today but it does feel like a long time since I had a splurge.

Have my M&D coming up to stay at the end of the month, so planning some nice outings.
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

I need to get a curtain tension rod and have found one on Amazon but it's an 'add on' item so I need to spend £10 to get it but there's nothing on there that I want yet, so will wait a bit longer I think :)

    Good morning and happy Sunday!

Amber03 welcome to the thread and congratulations on becoming debt free. Hope you will enjoy posting and reading here.

Yesterday was not a bad day spend wise for an outing day. DH and I went to a lovely little farmers market, which unlike our own (big, expensive, trendy, farmers coming from a relatively long way) is quite inexpensive (for a farmers market) and has a much more local feel.

We bought rye sourdough bread, enough for a week or more, from a stall of a bakery I like very much, Better Health Bakery, a social enterprise that offers support and training to people with mental health problems. Here is the link, it is really a lovely project: http://www.betterhealthbakery.org.uk/about/

We also got some eggs, carrots and kale at really reasonable prices. It is so hard to find organic kale (unless you pay extortionate prices to the fancy organic supermarket in Kensington) so I was really glad, it is one of my favourite veg! And it is also one of the most chemically sprayed veg, sadly, so when I find it organic I always buy it. Until my tiny plants will be ready in the allotment, that is.

We found a street festival near the station, with music and food stalls so we had lunch of mixed Indian stuff, samosa onion bhaji and kachori, really tasty, covered in chopped onion, coriander, crisp noodles, yogurt and spicy dressing, absolutely delicious and we got change from a tenner. And we drank tap water using our metal mugs (to avoid using one-use plastic cups).

Then off to J Lewis cafe where we used our August vouchers for free tea and cake. So all in all a real successful outing, cheap, fun and useful.

Back home, the vacuum cleaner filter was dry so DH helped me fix it, then to lift the mattress, we hoovered all the grimy dusty bed slats and all the giant dust bunnies under the bed and made the bed fresh with my new linen sheets. Lovely!

At dinner time, in spite of being very tired, we decided that one treat for the day was enough so we skipped the fish and chips and instead made stir fry at home, which was delicious. DS had some YS noodle from marks with the stir fry and it was an all round success.

We did not make it to the allotment because we were very tired, but we will go this morning after breakfast.

At some point today DH and I need to pop in to see our elderly Indian neighbour to see to her broken table. This lady has been incredibly kind to us, knowing that we do not have a kitchen at the moment she often brings us lots of her homemade curries and other delicacies. We return the courtesy by helping her with small fixing jobs (DH) and with bits of produce from our allotment (me). I shall bring her a punnet of plums.

Then in the afternoon we are invited for tea by other neighbours.

So if all goes well it might be a NSD and filled with good things.

    Have a good day.
