    Hi everyone

I hope its OK to join in with the thread. I try to be as OS as possible but can struggle with the work/life balance. Luckily I work in education so don't return to work until September so I want to get as organised as possible before then.

I need to do an inventory of the freezers and cupboards. I don't have much in them to be honest and would like to build up a better store cupboard.

I've tried flylady but it doesn't fit in with work so gave it up. I just need to find a routine which fits my lifestyle.

I have been growing veg again this year but its been up and down. I need to get the garden sorted ready for next year so to be as productive as possible.

I'm looking forward to the tips I can pick up from here. I need lots of help.

    thanks Px

Damp squib of a day. Bar-b- que now translated to DD's Oh cooking huge Sunday roast at home and bringing it over later - Im happy with that but Oh still wants a bar-b :p

He was very happy with Pookys papercut and was really touched with how personal it is and how you got it so right for him - thank you xx

So sorry he didn't get his BBQ - hope his roast has cheered him somewhat.

Really glad he liked his present, I really enjoyed creating that :)

I've picked in loads of veg today - the wind and rain vanished around 4pm, my tomato plants were so battered that I've picked everything in and shall be making green tomato chutney. The bean wigwams were blown silly too so I picked in everything I could (all now prepped and in the freezer in portioned bags) 6 large courgettes came in too along with 2kg of apples from my dwarf tree. A good haul and all destined to become something yummy.

I always feel more OS come the Autumn, I suppose it's the gathering in and hunkering down aspect, todays weather really did make me feel very homely and very excited for the months ahead. Income is taking a huge nose dive in 2 weeks but bring it on.....I'm ready! (ish)

Hello Parsniphead, of course it is ok to join in, welcome!

Hurray, a NSD for me today, and very OS too. Morning spent watching a film that DS had, while it rained cats and dogs, eating brunch of vege sausage, egg and beans that DS kindly made for both of us.

Then when the sky cleared we walked to the allotment, put some slug pellets around the young brassicas and picked up a few tomatoes, squash, plums and cucumbers, as well as a small box of blackberries.

Then we went to visit DD for a cup of tea, gave her some of the produce and she gave us some of the lovely salad and basil that she grows in her little garden. The basil is amazing, a huge plant that she got as a puny little thing from sainsbugs, planted in the ground a month ago before going away and now is thriving!

Then we have dinner of leftover vege stew from yesterday, with DD lettuce and allotment tomatoes, then watched some martial art stuff that DS wanted to show me, very interesting. About the use of Chi energy.

Now in bed, ready to drink my camomile then go to sleep.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Thank you for the lovely welcome Caterina.

I have a day without any set plans so want to spend some days doing a bit of sorting. I have portioned up some lasagna I made and put it in the freezer for a later date. I would like to pop to the local park later to see if the blackberries have ripened as there were only a few ready last week. It will keep the little one entertained for a while..Then later some sewing as the sewing machine is calling.

But first a look in the freezer to see what I have and make some plans.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Good morning,

Here's my OS plan for the day:

Eggs for breakfast, then food shopping, I have 2 x £5 off £25 for marks simply food discount vouchers plus I bought £40 worth of marks gift card at 7% discount via DH's work website, so if I calculate the cost of my shopping accurately and do not exceed £20 for each shop I get it at a 27% discount. Mind you, it is still cheaper to go to L1dl but this way allows me to get a few luxuries without the extortionate price tag. And I can walk there in 5 minutes. Pity that I cannot use the discount on YS foods though!

Then gym. There, I have put it in writing, it is a commitment!

Then I have managed to get a few sessions of free counselling through Mind, I need to sort out some feeling and issues and hope they can help me as a sounding board. First appointment this morning.

Then after lunch (leftover of last night's leftover stew, plus some salad - hope to get avocados in my shopping), visit to a friend I haven't seen in ages.

Am going to text another friends to ask if I can do a laundry at hers, my basket is overflowing! If not, will wait and do it at work (babysitting) tomorrow.

Tonight DD is coming to have dinner with us so am planning a nice (yellowing) broccoli and cheddar soup, followed by saut!ed aubergine I have an enormous one that needs eating! And pudding of sorts from marks.

    Have a good OS day.

How OS is this. I fell down the stairs on Sunday and have made a real old woman of myself.

My pain is my focus and I can't think of my frugal ways at the moment.

Hope your pain goes as quickly as it came Bella - ouch!

Ginny - Yay to doing what you like! None of the blackberries here are ripe enough yet But I'm keeping an eye on them, I want some for wine.

Dug my chutney and chilli jam recipes out this morning to see what I needed to pick up to get making tomorrow and I had everything in bar ginger! Will go dig my box of jamjars out of the garage later and give them a scrub. Some will be given as Christmas pressies so I feel I'm making some progress in all fronts.

Going to try and do some batch cooking over the next few nights too ready for when everyone is back to college/uni and evening meals are all over the place. Will be handy to have some individual portions ready to whip out the freezer....I'm aiming for stretching each meal I cook for the rest of the week to an extra 2 portions (bit more veg and no seconds), that'll be a good start without having to spend all day cooking just for the freezer.

I'm on my third NSD in a row, it's never particularly hard when I'm at work though! It's the weekends that the spendings go out the window!

We are heading hot tomorrow night for steak night (a thing we do with my OH work mates).. Plan to take out my money to pay for my transport as well so I can have a NSD on Thursday as well!

I'm enjoying cooking again, I do miss it when we eat out all the time! Cutting back on those pennies though!

    Hi everyone

Two nsds for me over the weekend which is just as well as I took dn's to town on Friday and that cost me a few pounds, but they're worth it and its not like I do it all the time.

Yesterday felt really productive as I'd not got round to meal planning for this month (not like me at all), so yesterday I knuckled down and not only meal planned for the rest of this month but also September as well, so am quite chuffed as I used up quite a lot of my freezer contents. It also gave me a chance to take stock of my freezer and cupboards.

Tidied out cupboards and toiletries. Didn't get rid of too much but had a reshuffle around so stuff sits in places together better.

I'm getting back into knitting the little innocent smoothie hats which help raise money for Help the Aged. I can do a few each night if I'm watching TV. Will keep me busy and stop me nibbling. Seem to have munchies at present, not good if trying to save money and watch waist line.

Was off work yesterday so just did a little food top up.

Finally feel like I'm getting re-focussed on my OS ways thanks to the help from you all on the boards. Yay
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.
