I love the media side of it BUT i absolutely hate all the updates. I dont play it regularly as im usually too busy but I put it on to destress and end up going insane at doing 500 MB - 2GB updates every frickin time.
Also not many games yet. Xbox 360 gets my vote.
I havent played with ps4 but my experieence with ps3 put me off completely.
You can have it so that it downloads and installs the updates while not in use.0 -

I had both the PS3 and the Xbox 360... I much preferred the Xbox 360 so naturally I went and got the Xbox One the day it came out.
I was so un-impressed by the Xbox One that I decided to sell it and now I am back on my 360 for now... think the PS4 might be the way0 -
Xbox for me, based on the controllers, I hated PS3 ones. That said I really must try PS4 ones, they look much improved.0

I have the PS4 with the Playstation Camera, PSCam does not compare to Kinect for XBox One, but myself I prefer the performance of the PS4
I also have an Xbox 360 & never owned a PS3, but I have played a PS3
So as I say I would say PS4, purely on performance, but if he is more into kinect then the XBox One is the obvious choice
What does he currently have XBox 360, PS3 or neither0 -
Whichever one you get, you should be pretty happy with it. The xbox one has changed quite considerably since release and is getting new features and updates every month, they have really listened to what the users want and made changes.
PS4 tends to run at higher resolution and frame rate however the xbox one is now beginning to push towards the same and if you look at comparison videos then you probably won't see a great deal of difference between the two however you should be a big jump over xbox 360/ps3.
Go with whatever one has the exclusive titles that you are interested in. Both now have quite a few out now with more to follow. Titanfall is great fun, who wouldn't have to go about in massive armoured robots. Many games are out on both consoles, so you will always find something to play.0 -

The problem there is that if you genuinely care about performance, you wouldn't settle for the PS4 either. Why skip the third-best graphics and then make do with the second-best graphics instead? Especially when the second-best performer is more expensive than the best?Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
I have an xbox 360 (had ps3 too but sold it) and am looking to move to either the PS4 or Xbox One.
At the moment I am swaying towards the ps4 but undecided yet.0
