I have been on incapacity benefit for the last three years. When I took my daughters college bursary form to job center to have my benefit verified, I was told I was on Income support, as I did not have enough stamps to qualify! I have never been able to work so therefore why after 16yrs are they telling me this. They this week have stopped £28, from my income support, they say that is my benefit now because they are waiting on verification from child benefit that she is infact at college. If anyone can help me I'd be much obliged. (inserting this through a friends name, who advised me to ask on here) Thanks in advance. Fay (scotland)0

My daughter is not intitled to anything , it is so unfair we have a big mortgage and can not afford to give her pocket money, her friends at School are getting £30.00 a week and my daughter feels she is being penalised because we have worked hard to get a higher income. I think all children should be inititled. It would have been fairer to give all children £10.00 a week rather than some get £10/20/30 a week whilst others get nothingCompetitions wins 2010

Im not entitled either which is pretty poor...seeing as my bus for a year costs £450 (Damn Winstanley College). Theres no way my parents can afford to give me money and dinners seem so expensive...so Im relying on two part time jobs (woohoo) and cramming them in with my studies isn't particularly good for me but oh well. Its a great scheme though. I know a good few people that wouldn't have gone to college without EMA and couldn't pay there own way like I do.Overdraft: PAIDOU Course Fees: PAID:money:Now to save for mortgage... :money:0

Hi my son has just started sixth form college and as applied for ema, we have not got it yet but hoping to as it would be a really good help. the one thing he has to do though for this is to participate at college in just one activity after lessons, so he is taking up photography!0

It depends when she was 19 and whether she is still in Further Education (A Levels etc).No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

aNYONE KNOW WHO IS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY BACK THE ema IF YOU HAVE BEEN OVERPAID , IS IT THE PARENT OR STUDENT. Also do they use your tax credit form as proof of income at the end of the year
thanks0 -
As it is paid to the student I think they are. I don't remember anything on the forms that you as a parent sign to be responsible (?).Torgwen..........

This is something new they've brought in this year, checked today and it seems that the young person is liable and if they are under 18 and do not have credit facilities on their account then future payments will be used to backpay until the total has been repaid. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
