As I said above -ask for a reassesment due to a major change in circumstances.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Has anyone got this yet? We're still waiting :mad:0

This has already been done and they will not listen to my case.
Would writing to them make any difference?0 -
I have a feeling that reassessments can't be done for EMA, only for student loans. I know everyone thinks I'm dreaming with the other stuff I've been told, but again, my friend with the drastically reduced income this year compared with last year said there was no reassessment for EMA if income changes from one year to the next.

Sue is correct for England. Actual rules are below. If believe the Scottish EMA scheme allows a reasessment after a 15% reduction in income and Northern Ireland and Wales allow reassessment if the income change is 'non-temporary'.Reassessment of Income mid year
16. Where a young person has not been eligible to receive any EMA payment or the
maximum level of weekly EMA payment on the grounds of household income but he
satisfies the conditions set out in paragraph 4, he may apply to be reassessed at any

-
- a person whose income was taken into account in determining financial eligibility has died; or
-
a relevant person*2 becomes disabled, as defined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
-
since the assessment of income was made, the young person has becomeestranged from his parents, guardians or someone else whose income was taken into account in determining financial eligibility; or
-
the young person has been taken into the care of the Local Authority; or
- the young person has become a parent with care of his child

EMA has nothing to do with free travel for students at college. As longas your income is not over £30,000 you can claim it for your child and its no hassle. I claim it for my son, i filled the form in no problems. Also other benefits are not affected, whey would they be? I live in west midlands and its costs me £1.50 a day for my sons travel to college and back. National express were advertising something for cheaper bus travel but on looking on website couldnt see anything! Oh and no point in trying to cheat the system as EMA check your NI number so they can see how much you earn. not fair if someone claims EMA when they are earning higher than £30,000?0

We are in the same boat, DH has left work to do a teaching degree. After much searching I have found that they will re-assess it after the first year though so at least DD's should get more money next year.
BTW the wonderful people lost DD's forms that were sent during the summer holidays, after weeks of trying to get through to them they sent out new forms and we are now stuck in this huge backlog :mad:0 -
i found this out today too. i was earning £30890 between april 07-april 08 and have been on jsa for a month now. i thought my son would get the full £30 p week but was told no! :mad:0

I rang the EMA last week. We had applied in July but they lost the paperwork. We then re-applied waited 5 weeks and now I'm being told the forms were sent out on the 3rd of this month and give it a bit longer for them to reach us. If the forms are not in today's post I'll be calling up and asking for their complaints department. I know it will be back dated but we are still having to support daughter up until she receives it :mad:0

My 16 y/o has yet to receive any of his EMA - is this the same for everyone? I heard on the radio a few weeks ago that there was a backlog. Can I call up during the day for him, or does he have to do it?One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing
Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home0
