Six year retirement plan

Hello, just been looking at your diary.
Retirement planning is my main priority at present, so the title of your thread lured me to have a read:rotfl:
I was also interested to see a mention of your 'cruise wardrobe'
I have one of those too - sales and eBay have been invaluable for this purpose.
We've mainly done P&O cruises, but last month we did a river cruise along the Danube, which was great, and we hope to do a river cruise again one day.
You must be getting very excited abut your upcoming cruise.
Good luck with all your plans, I'll definitely be looking in to see how you are doingEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Thanks Habibiboo and Goldiegirl for popping in.
In terms of crafts I have so much stash that it makes sense from a mse perspective to try and use this stash to realise the funds that have previously been spent. Fortunately I have a family which appreciates crafts and we do not feel pressured into spending outrageous sums of money. I'm even planning on making the baskets from fabric - in which to present the goodies - decluttering and saving money!
In terms of the cruise - I am now one week away and am sat making a simple white top whilst its raining cats and dogs outside whilst thundering away - suddenly the med seems REALLY appealing! This will be my first cruise but I suspect it will not be my last!44 day challenge

Okay - so today I have:-
1. Sold two small items on ebay for the princely sum of £2.68
2. Completed, and emailed, a consultation report which should pay me £150 for the work - won't count that one in my total until I receive it though.
3. Spent some time with a good friend and showed her how to make a couple of christmas presents.
4. Tidied and hovered the house through - isn't it amazing how something so simple makes you feel so much better?
5. Sorted out the lavender that I hang up to dry - I have mountains of it now!
6. Washed and ironed ready for my holiday.
Not a bad day - and I'm relaxed and chillaxed!44 day challenge

RETIRED: MAY 2021!!!!😀🎆
My diary: “Seasidegal's Scrimpy Retirement Diary!”0 -
A week today we will have set sailed!! I have also received an email confirming that I should be paid the £150 by the end of the week - I can go on holiday with a clear mind and with cash in the bank to offset any spending (in addition to the euros that I have already saved up). Oh happy days! When I return its then 5 short days until payday and I can see what all this effort has truly achieved and whether I am any nearer to reaching that £300 goal. feeling positive!44 day challenge

            So - today I have:-
1. Stuck to the petrol budget and just put £20 in. That has to last me this week where I am making one long and two medium journeys - but it should be oaky.
2. Cancelled sky movies - who knew that it was costing me £16.50 a month (yikes!!) I have made the decision to continue with Sky for now as I don't go out much but will see how this decision goes.
3. Stuck to my grocery budget and only spent £17.77 in Mr M. I have family coming up soon and so will need to buy some basics before the week is out but should just creep under. Using YNAB I have attributed costs for a trip to IKEA and the hairdressers and will, hopefully, recoup a penny or two from these budget headings to eek out the grocery budget.
4. Learnt that much of my grocery budget is spent on carp - cut that out and both the budget and my waistline will benefit!!
5. Sold two small items on ebay and facebook - bringing in £3.05 to the OD repayment fund. I started this journey with an OD of around £1950. By next payday, with the £150 from the consulting job, travel expenses expected in august pay packet plus my efforts this month and the planned repayment I am hoping that the OD will be down to 1299 (well 1300 but 1299 looks soooo much better!) if I achieve this then it would be awesome!
However onwards and upwards44 day challenge

Well done on cancelling Sky Movies.
We've been toying with the idea.
We'll definitely keep Sky Sports, as we do watch it a lot ( well Mr Goldie does), but we hadn't really been watching the Movies so much.
However, neither of us have had the resolution to do anything about it. We do enjoy films, and don't go to the cinema that much. So we've made an effort to Sky + more films and have a movie night on Saturdays.
But, it's still one of those things under review.Early retired - 18th December 2014

My cancellation wont kick in until the beginning of September - I will monitor the deprivation from that point. The way I look at it it costs £3.50 to rent a movie so I would have to rent 5 a month to make the monthly subscription worth it - and I don't think that I do that much. I also don't know if you would still get access to some movies through the on demand service - will have to wait and see.
Didn't log in yesterday - it was a full and busy day but is stayed within my budget. Today was a quick grocery shop before family arrive - and I went just 71p over budget. I also picked up 3 copies of the sun and will use the vouchers to buy the fresh fruit and veg for the week.
I got paid for the voice recording work that I did and, along with some small ebay sales, was able to transfer 23.32 to the od. Just waiting for the £150 consultation fee now!44 day challenge

Okay - sorry that I haven't posted for a couple of days but you know what its like when family arrive - especially when they don't know about your finances.
Anyway - an update - managed to transfer £23.32 from ebay sales etc to the od and the YNAB budget is suggesting that I have around £200 to go towards my holiday expenses. I go this afternoon and it would be fantastic to come back with little or no damage to the credit card (I also have 678 euros for spending money so hope that I've covered most bases). I start my holiday this afternoon so am uber excited and will be away from the diary for over a week.
In the meantime I am waiting for my £150 cheque for my consultation work which, it has been confirmed, has been posted so will paid in when I return. Payday will also be a few days after my return and I am expecting around £100 in expenses - which should all help!
I've also cancelled my pet insurance - it had gone up to over £50 a month. I have never claimed on it so will try to put that amount by each month to help should I need it.44 day challenge
