Thankyou - great to hear that they are still being useful. It's been another busy day at work but I'm wrapped up warm now with the fire lit and doing some hand sewing - medicine of the gods!44 day challenge

Okay - so work has now finished for a week - phew - its been manic!
Its a financial month end and, whilst I have not been as focussed as I was, the OD has been reduced by a total of £672.15 - I have paid one third of the OD off and am really beginning to fantasise about a 3 figure OD by Christmas (rather than the 4 figure one that has been around for several years!).
I know that posting regularly gave me focus so my pledge to myself is to post every day this week and do something towards the debt mountain whilst I have the time. Mind you these last few weeks haven't been too unfocussed. I finished my posh shampoo two months ago and have managed to eek out the sample pots, cut tops off to dredge the depths etc. I succumbed - for the sake of my hair you understand - this weekend but think of all that money that I have saved!
Off to do some more sewing - that's what the extra hour is for - right??44 day challenge

Thank you Sun Addict.
Well the last couple of days havent been earth shattering but I am back to using YNAB and faithfully entering each transaction. went shopping yesterday and picked up some bargains - like the new clock for £2.50 from Tesco so feeling quite proud of myself. Lunch yesterday (and today!) is cauliflower soup made from the slightly browning cauliflower that was languishing in my fridge. All in all this is a mind set issue and I am getting back on board!!44 day challenge

Hi all - its back to the grindstone. Sadly I have had no time to call my own - yet now find that I could be retiring earlier than planned!! However strangely I am not down - but am determined not to head there with as much debt as I hold right now! My lump sum should cover the debt mountain so I can live - but will resent every penny that I waste on the debt mountain rather than enjoying myself.
So - there's a change of plan:-
1. Reduce the OD to 3 figures by Christmas. That means I have two pay packets to fine around £650 which is doable and, when I put my mind to it, is more than achieveable.
2. Lose 12 lbs by Christmas - well you've gotta aim high and I have, quite frankly, been messing around! losing weight goes hand in hand with money saving - I am not wasting money buying rubbish!
3. Use YNAB religiously - I have got lax with this one and must keep a careful track of my money.
Wish me luck!44 day challenge

Good luck!!
Sounds like the retirement is not of your choosing. I am glad you can cover the debt with your lump sum but like you say there are better things to spend it on. Work your hardest to get as much through as possible. For a few months it is worth living on as little as possible. Prove to yourself (and use YNAB) that you have the ability to really budget when you put your miind to it. Walk instead of driving where possible, write lists of things to shop for so that you only go once and don't end up spending £30 buying milk! Meal planning works wonders, even if only a rough plan of the evening meals, it concentrates your mind!
Keep going!!
