Gold star awards of to, AlwaysHappy :staradmin and Kerry Woman :staradmin, many thanks to you both for the welcomes to our new members.
Oooh ETO, I'll be remaining hopeful, but expecting nothing..you know me! :ALoveactually wrote: »Thanks Sue for agreeing to open my pot up in October. I. Will keep you posted when I open it up.
Potting now a days is becoming difficult. We came to know we are expecting a baby girl and I can't stop myself buying cute dresses for the baby every time I go out. I need to stop doing that.
There's nothing quite like looking forward to a new life coming, Loveactually, just enjoy it all...though don't overspend.Be sure to put the amounts from your pot on your siggy...it's all your savings!
Well done in sorting your finances, Helen, just remembered you said you've targeted for a certain amount for November, good luck with getting there, or doing the best you can! :jlittle_sweetie wrote:Sue! So glad you are back. What a pain when pooters plays upWell done T
Haven't your GSs done well, especially the youngest. Twelve? Twelve? GCSEs flippin' heck the lad worked hard
He's always been one for studying, little_sweetie, and took 3 GCSEs early last year, got As for each, 2 being Sciences the other Maths!! He wants to be a Sports Coach/Teacher and so needs to have quite a bit of knowledge under his belt.jakes-mum wrote:That's what I'm hoping AlwaysHappy I just want him to have as many doors open for him as possible, as I said to DH, he will hate me at 16 when I'm on his back to study, but he will love me at 26 when he realises WHY I did it, and if it has to physically cost me money to save him from his own naivity and attitude then it will be money well spent
Don't worry, jakes-mum, Jake may well pull it all off yet, our middle DGS (who got the great grades) used to be a right little s*d, though he's always loved school. Jake might surprise you yet, I truly do hope so. Whatever, it sounds like you have all bases covered, you know your lad and he'll do the best possible! BTW, our lad thought I was a right nagger when studying for his GCSEs, but was chuffed to bits when he passed them ALL! He's always keen to point it to others that he wouldn't be where he is today if it hadn't been for me! :A
PS. Re the disability problem - some folk need to realise that it doesn't always show. Aside from that, you were the greater out of the 2 of you that day, hang onto that!
Very sweetly handled, AlwaysHappy!! You too were the better person that day, but why don't people just stop and think before saying these things?!
People just don't get how much a disability takes over your life, whether its your own or a family members, it becomes your life, everything you do accomodates it (that wasn't the best choice of word there but I couldn't think of another one! Stupid brain and rubbish memory). My mum doesn't even live with us and even she finds she makes choices to work around my needs
*tries to now desperately think of something SPC related to end post to keep in Sue's good books and not get in trouble for going off topic . . . . Fails miserably* . . . Umm on potting news . . . Picked up my pot, its very heavy
Not a problem, jakes-mum, due to my own illness I know exactly where you're coming from, everything we do has to be worked around me and there's a lot I can't do, but it's the loved ones who matter far more than those who haven't a clue - nor would wish to. However, just 24 hours spent in the shoes of those with disabilities would make them stop and think - a LOT!!
All the best to you too, GAP.
It's really good to see you more often, ChevalierTialys, keep up the great work.
Oh, it's autumn all right, Lynsey, and I reckon we'll be lucky to get that Indian summer given the blesses jet stream is right over us, still we've not done bad for summer again this year. Fingers crossed with the heating, but.........!Verityemilia wrote: »I have been very naughty and opened my sealed pot as we were going away and had £140 :T:T but :mad: for opening it !!!
I'm starting again this week and will continue until the end I promise
I Hope potting is going well for everyone else and you reach your targets
I think mine will reduce to about £30 instead of £200 - sorry Sue
Never mind, Verityemilia, at least you had it when you needed it. Just be sure to pop all amounts saved on your siggy for me please.
I can understand you with the heating, Lynne, I've been watching your temperature there and know what I'd do!I hope your evening's a good'n, all SPCers, have a lovely Wednesday and save VERY hard!

Hiya, we opened our pig a couple of weeks ago - I use it to help save up spending money for our holidays, and it had £213.06 inside...
Unfortunately I split it in half as one week was spent away and the other half was at home... and I can't find the safe place I put it for safekeeping. Doh! Kinda defeats the object, doesn't it?Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

Thanks Sue, have updated my signature with my SPC number & will add my current total on the 10th when I do my first tally.
Oh and that's £4.51 in the pot today.0 -
Thank You Sue hun....I WILL do my very best....things are looking up here at Helen-Towers.....I was feeling down earlier on (a hormonal thing).....but feeling good right now...
Potted a bit more money tonight....I think it's working out for me that I'm not keeping a tally....I don't sit here and think "Oh I've got this much in my Pot so I can borrow some"...Now I just Pot it and forget about it.....If that makes ANY sense whatsoever!! Also, my Pot is now Sealed, well and truly....so no more dipping in!! Now I can just Pot it with a smile on my face and then forget about it until Opening Time....can't wait to see what is in there!!
Well Done to those that are Potting loads....However much we all save will be more than if we had spent the money....so it's WELL worth it....0 -
Small handful of change, would have been a bit more but the Tyne tunnel took £1.60 off me twice. Enjoyed Northumberland though, some good walks and waterfalls and stuff.ISA £1675

Evening
Potted £2.30 today.
It's been so cold here for the past 2 days. I never turn my heating off (big old house which is prone to damp) but I have turned it up for the past couple of days. I hate being cold.
I hope everyone is well.

Ahh I hope your right Sue-UU, Jakes is now slap bang in the middle of the terrible teens, and you know how they always pick one parent that is the devil reincarnate, sent to ruin their life? . . . well its seems that would be ME  yep, im getting the strops, surly answers, horrible tone of voice etc etc! BUT as I said to my mum, if I have to take it at home so he's not behaving like that at school, i'll take it and anything else he can throw at me!
He's definitely going to hate me come exam time in 3 years as i'm already planning his revision timetable and it wont have half as much 'leisure' time as he's going to think he deservesplus i'll be planning quick fire questions for places like the car where he can't escape me
Oh Capricornlass, fear not, you will find it, I did exactly the same thing a few months ago with DS's school trip money and finally found it in one of the kitchen drawers about 5 weeks later!
Oooo I love the thought of you potting with a big smile DreamerHelen, it so nice to read that other people take as much joy from this challenge as I do!
