Just click on the green logo in the menu bar to turn it off before clicking through from Quidco / Topcashback
Then click the green logo again to switch it back on again before you start comping

I've also found that one or two sites have come up with strange error messages since using this FF extension when I try to enter their comps, but found that turning it off in the way that Daza mentions (just temporarily, and just for the site in question) sorted out the problem.

So can someone help a thicky here - I clicked the link that Daza kindly put up and installed Referrer Control - well, that was easy enough in that it took whole seconds to do! - but now what? Do I have to do anything more or will it just quietly sit there doing what it does? Sorry - I did warn you I was a thicky! :):)

    To summarise:

    1) Dragging a link to a new tab or window hides that you came from MSE.
    2) Copying a link to an "incognito" link hides where you are from.
    3) FF (and maybe other browsers) have add-ons that can hide it.
    4) Clicking on the link OR copying the link to a new tab (include CTRL+Click) do not hide that you came from MSE.

    5) A few companies specifically mention that entries from MSE are not allowed.
    6) Some companies have blocked links from working directly from MSE.
    7) Some companies have blocked access when the referrer data is missing.
    8) Some companies may have disqualified MSE entrants, but unless it is covered in their T&C they are wrong to do so.

    9) Some companies ask us to
    ..a) Never post their comps
    ..b) Never post answers
..c) Only post "indirect" links so entrants must go to their website and not direct to an entry form
See the COMPING GUIDE post #7 section 4 for a list

I just "drag" the link to a new TAB in FireFox.

I clicked the downward-pointing arrow to the right of the Referrer Control icon and selected "target domain". Now when the icon is green it's on, if the icon is grey then it's off.

Ok - yay - I've done that. Does it just sit there quietly doing what it's meant to do or do I have to pay it attention every time I click a link for a comp?

    Thanks for the patient help:dance::dance:

Like all the best add-ons, it just sits there quietly doing what you have told it to do. You just have to make sure that the icon is green. If it's green it's working, if it's grey it isn't.

    Very interesting.

I'm not technically minded so I wonder as I use my iPad for comping - doesn it work the same way as a browser and if so is there anyway I can stop them knowing that I am clicking from MSE?

    Thanks

I'd never considered this before reading this post - I've just been blindly clicking the MSE links. I haven't had much luck with web based entries so I'm going to start dragging from now and see if my luck changes ;)

In theory at least, unless it is in the Ts and Cs it shouldn't matter... but for the extra second I'd rather be cautious

I would be interested to know if there are any regular winners that always click on the mse links though?????
