If you want to check if you are "hidden" this expired comp shows where you clicked from if you are not hidden

Thank you
Clicking the link takes me here

It looks like referrer (MSE) is in fact hidden.
Does that mean that referrer is hidden automatically, without dragging URL to a new tab?
Thanks for help.0 -

I don't hide mine so don't know, I get theBy the way, the page that brought you here was this one: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=67363611
showing in the centre of the page below the large 404 not found message and the "win stuff" ad.0 -
I've been using mjm's example above to check I am not showing MSE when clicking links. I updated Chrome last night and it no longer works/shows the referrer info on mjm's 'test' page. I found this site instead to double-check 'what is my referrer' when clicking/drag&dropping links from mse. It might help others on here

Thanks, I don't normally try to hide it but opening the link incognito in chrome seems to do the job.0 -

Thanks mjm - I do use the incognito tab sometimes, but I can't use Lastpass as a form filler if I go incognito so it's useful for me to be able to 'hide referrer' in a normal tabIt's just down to personal preference I suppose

In all the time I have been comping I have never thought to hide where I am doing my comps from, I never even thought about the companies who comps I am entering checking where I got their information from.
If I had a company and did check where folks were coming from to get to me and saw the amount of footsteps that MSE brought to my door I think I would be very happy, but playing Devil's Advocate I might also think those folks are compers and only using my company for the prize.
I only ever open my comps on MSE and open them in a new tab at the top of my browser and after reading the previous information I know now that does not hide where I came from.
I may try an experiment.......1 month hiding and 1 month open to see if it makes any difference to my comping wins. I doubt it will but you just never know.
Does anyone have a link to hide referrals on Chrome?“I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.” - Billy Joel

Of course you could get a false positive on that Mansey lol.
As for the chrome app I installed it, it threw up errors on the comp I tried it on so I uninstalled it pdq.
Drag and drop if it worries you.0 -

You can "allow" Lastpass in incognito and it works just the same as normal.0 -
Without reading all of the posts above ... would removing the referral link not just be a waste of time because there won't be a referral link.
Surely, if someone does look at this information then they'll be looking to see that you came from their facebook post, or from a link from their homepage / competition partner etc.
If they're bothered about where you came from, then if you simply came from "nowhere" then it looks like you must have just copied and pasted the URL from somewhere and pasted it into a new browser ... so surely is just as bad as coming from a forum like MSE.
The only real way to get around the problem would be to go to the site, find the link to the competitions page and navigate to it that way?
Unless they just search their database for "forums.moneysaving..." and delete all the entries, but if they are THAT bothered about it, then I would assume they would delete all entries with no referral URL's too?0
