I tend to comp Macbook on the sofa... It's not as easy to click and drag using the trackpad. I think it's probably easier if you have a laptop to use a USB mouse.
Glad you've got it, Libra0 -
Referer test

Thanks for comments.
I always use macbook on the arm of the armchair, and it would be tricky trying to use a USB mouse. Might try and set something up though.
The hidden referrer link works well, didn't show where I had come from when dragging and dropping.
Thanks, good luck0 -
Can I ask - what is the difference between Target Host and Target Domain? Am not techie at all!0

I'd never considered this before reading this post - I've just been blindly clicking the MSE links. I haven't had much luck with web based entries so I'm going to start dragging from now and see if my luck changes
In theory at least, unless it is in the Ts and Cs it shouldn't matter... but for the extra second I'd rather be cautious
I would be interested to know if there are any regular winners that always click on the mse links though?????
Me.. I've had a really good week 6 wins on Monday . 1 on Tuesday and another one today. At least 3 of those were directly linked from Mse. 2 were Twitter so not sure if referrer shows there ?0 -
Great week for you! Do you use referrer or just click the M

It probably doesn't help, but this is how it is described here:The seven default options are provided by default:- skip: means no change, the referrer is kept as is.
- remove: removes the referrer so that none is sent. This means a blank referrer is sent.
- source host: change referrer to host name, e.g. http://www.example.com/ without path information
- source domain: change referrer to base domain, e.g. example.com without path information, protocol or subdomains
- target host: change referrer to target host name, meaning the host name of the requested resource.
- target domain: change referrer to target base domain name.
- target url: changes referrer to the full target address.
I use target domain.gizmobenny wrote: »I've always just clicked the link. I've had some lovely wins this year. Do you think many companies actually look to see how the entrants have arrived at the site?
When I was a forum moderator, and we were investigating cases of suspected fraud, it was of great interest to us. Also where somebody comes from and what referral code they use is very relevant in terms of income that a website generates. Needless to say, websites are extremely keen to analyse where their income is coming from. Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
I used ref control for about 6 months a couple of years ago, I didn't notice any increase in wins and I actually wondered if it looked worse/ more sus so stopped.
IE: they have a big list of referral Id's from entrants and mine is the only one that comes from the main homepage source url / something made up/ unknown,
surely it would stand out more?
Just wanted others opinions as seeing i'm not winning anyway I might give it a go again!!0 -
I had been using advice (above) to hide referrer when entering competitions using my Macbook.
However, following Safari (Yosemite) update, unable now to drag the URL to new tab.
Has anyone else found this, and can issue be resolved?
Thanks for any advice.0
