I'm not sure you need anything.
I don't suffer from anything - I'm just a normal person making good and bad decisions, on the bumpy road that is Life. I am always over analising decisions and mulling over bad ones i made in the dim and distant past. I also hate the fact that i keep mulling them over - but I just accept that's the way I'm made. I was the one who made those decisions after all.
Don't try and be perfect OP - no-one is. Just be you, enjoy your child who I'm sure is happy and loves you without question.

Do one thing a day that makes you smile that is not housework or shopping or cooking etc.

Half an hour walk, read a book, treat yourself to a beauty time at home even if it's just a shower and hair wash to brighten your day.

Turn of the TV and put on the radio especially a talk show or play. Make a special drink I.e hot choc or something you don't normally have and spend time actually enjoying it with pleasure.

Concentrate on just you and allow yourself to enjoy it. Be in the moment not just dashing between tasks. Don't waste the day.

Use this time as a motivator to get those rubbish tasks done then reward yourself.

Go to the library, look at the notice boards to see if there are free clubs etc local newspapers advertise free stuff locally to attend.
Thank you so much for this inspiring post - I really appreciate it :) I will definitely be getting on a bus to a random place :) x

Thank you Mint - I like the suggestions about beauty treatments and nice drinks! I drink tea, yesterday I craved it and as I sat down on the sofa with DD I really savoured the cuppa I'd made! Sounds so silly but after a full day at work, doing the shopping for the next two weeks, making dinner and tidying up, I felt I'd deserved it!

I don't get much time for walks, which is a shame as I live in a beautiful part of the country, but on the weekends I could try harder to make time. I very rarely watch TV, it bores me and just ends up being background noise! Waste of a SKY bill if I'm honest!

I found autogenics to be good for anxiety, although mine was acute rather than chronic.

One great technique for panic attacks is to pick an object near you at random, then out loud give a very detailed description of it. After a couple of minutes the panic should have subsided.

I think you should try and let go of what you have done/not done in the past. There is nothing you can do about it now, and punishing yourself is going to be detrimental to your kids. All you can do is look to the future and do your best for your family now. Take one day at a time, one minute at a time when needed
Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Thank you for your reply IW,

Panic and anxiety are part of life I've dealt with for a long time and have some very good coping strategies for these.

I have tried to let go of the past, if only it were as easy to do as it is to say!

  • Write a book.

Sorry, if it doesn't seem like a good advice for you, but every time I see someone who went through so much in their life, I recommend that they write. It doesn't have to be about them and it doesn't have to be something remotely close to their life.

It can be just one general idea - a moral you learned through experience. Describe this moral through your character's thoughts and actions.

And, when you're finished and look back at your life through this book, you can figuratively and literally close it and put it behind you :)
