Mother not paid her Littlewoods bill and now we have to pay up

Long story short

Mother wanted a new TV so she asked us if she could get one from our Littlewoods catalogue. So we agreed only if Mother would pay from her bank the monthly installments. Everything was going great until we recieved a letter from Littlewoods advising us that the last payment was refused and because of this Littlewoods have added a admin fee of 15 pounds.

I called Littlewoods and they said even though it is not us who have defaulted on payment we need to sort this out. unfortunately Mother has decided to ignore phone calls and text from us regarding this issue.

My question is I am just going to have to pay this off and put this down to experience or is there anything else I can do because this is totally out of order?

many thanks in advance

You have the contract with Littlewoods so they are not party to what is going on with your mother so you will need to pay off Littlwoods and then take the issue up with your mother. Whether you want to pursue her is up to you.

Devil's advocate question:- Would that be a good idea?

It's out of order that your mother didn't bide by her side of the contract?

Take the telly back, sell it and pay off the debt.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

What makes you think you're not responsible for keeping up payments on your own account?

Wish we could....yes we are going to pay it off...it's not much £48 but that's not the point... How about small claims court....does anyone know how much it would cost?

This is a wind up shortly? £48 and you'd take your Mum to court.

You'd rather sue your mother than take the TV back and sell it?!?

    Why not?
After all, it's not as if she doesn't have any other problem to contend with!
She works 15hrs a week and cannot get a full time job because she has arthritis in the back and has mental health issues and struggles to do the 3 hours a day.
