Sky tv end of contract/new deal in OH name

I'm in a similar situation, although not bothered about the boxes.
It's currently in the partners name and discount of 25% which I took at the time ends after this months payment. I haven't had Sky for over 2 years now, had a 50% offer emailed to me and was going to cancel and sign up in my name.
From the arguments I've read, does that mean that if I cancel and sign up in my name even if they find out it's coming from the same account they most they can charge me is £25 rather than the full price for the rest of the contract?0 -
No. Thats not right at all, ignore the £25 charge its irrelevant to this, and probably to everything.
You dont have a rest of contract, only one month left? if so give your notice now and try and get a better/same deal.
Or is it just the discount that is running out? if so then you are going to have to see your minimum term out.0 -

The discount ends and the contract does too. It was a discount for 12 months.
Didn't know whether it was best to just cancel and wait for a 50% offer and do it the 'right' way or is there a way of me being able to use the 50% off code. Genuinely want to get the bill down as in the last 12 months another baby has arrived!

You have to be a new customer to use discount codes. This was pointed out at post#2 of this thread.is there a way of me being able to use the 50% off code.
Best advice is to give your month's notice and wait for Sky to offer you a discount to stay.
If money is tight then consider giving up Sky altogether-your Sky decoder will continue to receive all the Free-To-Air channels and you may be surprised by the selection still available to you.
This question comes up with alarming regularity on this forum, but the answer is always the same.0 -
Same second name as your partner, same bank account details?
Read all the T&Cs of the deal as sent to you.0 -
Hi,
What happens in the case of people house sharing, not related and different bank details?
Sky is in my flatmates name and hasn't been under contract for a few years. We were thinking of cancelling and subscribing in my name to take advantage of a half price offer.0 -

This will probably work. Although your flatmate will still have to give one month's notice, of course.
This is unlikely to work.
The flatmate has been under contract for a few years – a rolling one month contract. It is that contract (which is still rolling) that Juzza12 and the flatmate are “thinking of cancelling.”
If, following cancellation, a new application is made in Juzza12’s name, Sky will check the Electoral Roll (among other things) and will perceive that the flatmate is still living there. Sky will also perceive that Juzza12 was living there during the currency of the flatmate’s terminated contract. What Sky calls their “household” thus continues, uninterrupted, and entitlement to a new-subscriber discount would be denied to Juzza12.Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

I don't think Sky will have access to the Electoral Roll. They will have access to the edited version (the one anyone can buy) but that only gives the names of people who have not opted out.
The full version is only available to public bodies, political parties, and those involved in keeping credit records (credit reference agencies). It is against the law for anyone to use the full electoral register for any purpose not provided for within the Representation of the People (Amended) Regulations 2002, which would certainly preclude Sky doing what has been suggested."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Sky wouldn't go to the trouble of checking the electoral roll anyhow. As long as the surname and bank details are different there are very unlikely to be repercussions for anyone living in a shared house (not a household) signing up for Sky after the original customer cancels.poppasmurf_bewdley wrote: »I don't think Sky will have access to the Electoral Roll.
