A court summons is the next step, unless the DVLA come to their senses and drop the matter. All you would have to do is produce the licence, which is dated 22nd and so is valid on 24th.

Ok so I have finally had my reply from DVLA and after investigating the case they have decided to take no further action as my car was licensed on the day it was reported to them.

Why on earth it took 3 months and my dispute to come to this conclusion I will never know but I'm not letting them get away with this and currently in the process of a complaints procedure......

Anyway I would like to thank all those who contributed to this thread and hopefully this thread will help many other victims who are wrongly accused of driving with no tax!!!

    Regards.
    Mike

Why? Because the 5 days is for renewals, not new tax discs.

It is 14 days for new licences, changes of keeper and renewals.
