Thought I would just quickly apply online this afternoon (no point in putting it off)… all was going well; then it was ID time. I have no issues popping my driving licence details in, but a card number, expiry date and CVV code of a debit / credit card. Never had to do that before! So I stopped. Loads of blurb on the screen about it being super secure and that zero money will be taken (and the site is secure) but I just found it a bit odd (I am super suspicious of sharing details online). Maybe I should just put details in for a card with no balance and no OD so if it is dodgy they can't get any money! lol

Erm…. can someone double-check my maths for the following....?

Let's assume that I earn 10% more than OH.
Let's also assume our house bills are £1100 per month.

What figure do you get for a pro-rata contribution to the house bills?

(my brain is mushed today and I keep getting different answers!!)

    TIA x

Sooo - If we were to split the bills 50/50 it would be £550 each.
If I split it 45/55 (giving me 10 difference) I get £522.50 for OH and £577.50 for me. But 45% of £1100 is £495 and 55% is £605.... I am not usually this useless - I need sleep!!

    Happy Friday all!

So I found an online 'bill splitter' calculator and for the figures in my post yesterday I get a contribution split of £578.28 for me and £521.72 for OH, so my first though was only a pound or so out! Nice to know I wasn't being totally dumb!

It is grey and damp out this morning. No sign of snow, although we did have a good flurry yesterday. I had to fight my way into my car yesterday morning as it was frozen solid. Not even my door handle would move!

We had a lovely time at OH's aunt's 100th birthday - everyone appeared to like my cake decorations! I think around 20 people came and went during the afternoon, never made so many cups of tea and coffee! lol. There were some bits n pieces left over so we brought them home and they have been tea for the last 2 nights!

Have just agreed to 5 nights house-sitting in mid Feb. That will be £100 in my pocket (2 dogs to look after here!) Apparently someone else is interested in me house-sitting for them, but I am not approaching them at the moment as I don't think OH would be too keen on me being away from home even more!

    Sooo, this weekend...
I am working tomorrow as I swapped weekends. Boo.
After work I am going to pop in and see my mum and SD.
Planning on having an 'at home' weekend after that. Last weekend and this week have been a bit busy, so its time for a bit of R&R. New computer system at work goes live a week today, so need to be (even more) on the ball all week!
New CC statement is available, so I will print that and go through it. OH has agreed to sit down and go through the financial things, so hopefully we can get everything squared this weekend.
Will do bits in the house - Left a load in the washing machine this morning, so will start with getting that dried this evening. Last night I noticed we have quite a collection of cobwebs! Must come from special invisible spiders as I haven't seen one around for months!
Need to re-visit the Nwest application too.
Might contact V1rg1n too as they have a stonking offer on for new customers … so as an existing customer I want a better price too!

I am sure OH will conjure up some extra bits too!

If I'm not back on here today, I wish you all a fab weekend! xxx

    I'm back! lol

I bit the bullet and went through the Nwest application; I selected the option of not having any ID to hand. I now have brand spanking new account details, £150 due in March and to complete the application I need to upload a photo of my passport / driving licence. I don't need to provide the card details either! YAY. They offered me an OD of £2250!!! I declined naturally and opted for £250. I have no plans to use it, but I would rather have it there to start with whilst it all settles down.

And just as I finished my application, I received my payslip by email. Now I know what my nett wages is (my guess was only out by 60p/month!!) I have updated my spreadsheet for the year. Once OH and I work out the financials at the weekend I can update for increased outgoings too!

    Happy Days! xxx

At work, but not really working, which is nice!
Had an email this morning from an online bingo site I joined through Q.co years ago. They were offering a deposit bonus! Not going to take them up on their offer but did log in to find I had 31p in there. Won some daily free spins and I now have 73p! RESULT!! Must get in the habit of doing the daily free games again. Never going to make me really rich, but it is all free money! I logged into another bingo site to find I had 4p in there, but I couldn't get the games to load. Oh well, will try again another day.
Ridiculously tired today - going to bed at 01:45 this morning was not my best idea! My plan is to visit my parents after work, pick DSS up and then have a quick nap when I get in. zzz Zzzzz (I love a good nap almost as much as a good plan!)

Happy Monday All - and more importantly, "happy pay day!!"

Can't believe I am back in work already - feels like I was only here yesterday (which I wasn't!). The weekend has certainly gone far too quickly and I still feel tired. :(

A few pottering bits were done at home but not too much. OH put a new landing light up (as I didn't like the one we put there when we decorated - that one will probably end up in the kitchen at some point so won't go to waste). Washing was done and some put away - DSS kindly brought some with him too!

Yesterday we headed out to a local shopping outlet complex as DSS was in dire need of a winter coat. So he got a coat (which he paid half of, so not too bad) and I picked up a new handbag. RRP £79, paid £24 for it which is fine by me!

Online bingo site is up to £3.43. I found one we opened for OH ages ago (must have had a cashback offer on it through Q.co or TCB). He had a balance of £2.04 which after the free game is now £6.04. Must keep up with logging in to these!

Uploaded the additional ID required for my NWest account. Hoping to get confirmation today that is was good enough. Fingers crossed.

Cleared a bit of space in the freezer by taking some mince out yesterday morning for dinner last night. A lovely large spag bol was made with enough for another 2 portions what we will have Weds night when I get in late from circuits. Only expenditure for dinner was mushrooms. We do seem to have a pasta mountain at home! Weird!

Ok, off to trial our system upgrade that goes live Friday - I've been instructed "to see if you can break it!" Oh, okay then!

Ok, so just a little mid-week update from me...

    No snow... BOO!
The photos I uploaded to NWest were apparently not good enough. Have re-done them and my application has been approved - new account will be up and running by 7th Feb. Tried logging on online today, but I seem to have mis-laid a code I need. DOH! Now waiting for new code to come through.
System upgrade at work postponed until 1st March - could have put money on that happening! (where is the eye rolling emoji when you need it!?)
OH away with work tonight - so I am having a cosy evening in on my own (and the 2 cats). I actually can't wait. Not going to circuits so will either eat the rest of the spag bol as planned... or freeze it and have a pizza out the freezer instead. Oh, the decisions! lol
No more free money from the bingo site. I need to be patient I know... I just struggle! lol

4 weeks 1 day to payday!

Oops, been MIA since the 30th Jan.... mainly because nothing remotely interesting had happened... and in the last couple of days.....

....OH and I finally had our 'financial' meeting! YAY! SO set up for him to send me money each month that should cover his portion of the CC and SO set up for the increase in rent. Result!!
....I booked a dinner, bed and breakfast night away for this Saturday as a birthday present for OH. I can cancel up until midday Friday... which is handy as I have ALL my fingers (and toes) crossed that I can get my hands on 2 tickets for the rugby on Sunday, which we will do instead. 2 tickets are not very MSE, but they are at a very good price - and I get to catch up with a friend of mine. I have set up our railcard and will use the code I got from redeeming some clubcard vouchers to take out almost all the cost of the rail travel. I am sooo excited for these tickets it is unreal!!
....I have managed to login in to my new Nwest account (finally) and can see they have set up all my SO's and DD's. Just need them to transfer my balance over and then we'll be good to go!
....I won an extra 10p on the bingo site! lol

Back to circuits tonight! That's gonna hurt after 2 weeks off!

Off to do some work - I have been training new staff this week and my brian hurts and I have a mountian of my own work to catch up on!!

Hello! And Happy Valentines day everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful MSE day! x

Soooo.... I have been MIA again - Don't fear, all is good!

    In summary....

Waiting for a card reader in order to be able to change the details of SO's leaving my new Nwest account - why they don't mention that you need one when you apply I don't know! *rolling eyes*
Nothing extra won on the bingo. Boo
Went to the rugby - what a day!! Amazing game and so lovely to catch up with my friend from uni (she currently resides in NZ!) A little more spendy than planned, but all spent from 'available' cash and nothing put on the CC! Winner Winner.
Circuits again last night - aching again today (stood on the scales for the first time in about a year at the weekend... the scales and I are no longer friends!!)
Work is manic. Meetings, training, meetings, own work, kicking a55! Never a dull moment! lol

Right, I need to do some work!! Laters. xxx

  • Morning All!

It is a glorious spring-like day here... long may it last (although I would love some proper snow!!)

I hope you all had a lovely evening spent with your loved ones. We popped to the supermarket and bought a deli pizza and a bottle of wine. We sat and ate it whilst watching Death in Paradise! Old romantics that we are! lol.

1 small bit of admin done last night (better than 7 years ago when we spent Valentines evening construction a cabin bed for DSS!!) OH was concerned that DSS was nearly at his monthly data limit. I logged in and he only had 1.5GB left (out of 9GB) until the 28th Feb. My response was "oh well, never mind - when he runs out, he runs out!" OH is a little softer (read that as 'a lot softer') than me and was looking to buy him extra data - but it is bloomin' expensive on DSS network. So, I had a live chat with a lovely person and after being polite and very charming, secured an extra 10GB per month for DSS for the additional cost of.... £0.00!! Bonus girlfriend points for me.. especially as it was Valentines day!

On the spending front... I may have bought tickets to another rugby match in August! :o But, I have been reading starmummys diary and have taken her thoughts on "doing things that bring you enjoyment" on board. So.…. my friend (now back in NZ!) and I have bought 5 tickets to an international rugby game in August and we are trying to gather our other 3 Uni girl friends together for a girlie catch up. We are useless at meeting up, we all like rugby (2 of the 5 girls are Welsh so it's in their blood!) its a pretty central location (as long as the girl in NZ is back in the UK by then) and having looked at accommodation it's not expensive 1 stop away from the stadium on the train... so we're going! WHOOP! Just waiting for the last 2 girlies to confirm! It will be over 2 years since we ALL got together and I am so excited! The spend will come from 'available' money and nothing will go on the CC (apart from the tickets initially - but will be paid in full when due for payment).

Also put a wash on last night to get ahead for the weekend. I am almost domesticated I tell you!

Working tomorrow and if the plan stays as it is I will pop round to check dog / house sitting details for Mon - Sat next week. this is a bit up in the air at the moment, so playing it by ear (organised chaos comes to mind!). Sunday is my mums b'day. Card already bought, just need to check if she would rather have a present or go out for a Sunday lunch somewhere.

I am currently in the office on my own, so really should be capitalising on the peace and quiet not reading and writing on here! lol

Have a great weekend everyone - I hope the weather holds! xxx
